Everyone is damning Haley, Pioli and Cassel but  the DEFENSE was the reason we lost. How else can you explain it - 41 points, forty friggin one. Yeah I heard all about it, saw it as well; turnovers, poor punting and kicking, play calling, field position that cost us the game. I don't see it that way. The defense couldn't tackle a division 2 college player the way they looked. Last year we saw great improvement in the area, what happened?

The coaches were the same, but Vrable retired. Could one old slow guy's retirement affect an entire defense? I don't believe it. But maybe. I have been posting about the need for a badass in the middle that the other guys don't want to let down for awhile now. Some say Berry is the man, just not this year. Anyway it needs be a player we haven't seen as yet, because I ain't gonna follow a team that cannot tackle any better than that. Last year was exciting just for seeing this defense play like a real NFL team should. After 1 game, I wonder if this team should be in the big leagues the way they played.

Face it man, most of us were on the defense's bandwagon thinking top 10. Getting out of the bottom 5 might be a more realistic goal if they do not tackle any better than that. If these guys had stepped in and shut down the Bill's, keeping the game close it would be an entirely different song we hear at AP. Offenses, generally take more time to develop than defenses. Especially this year where there where many new faces on the O. The defense needed to make a statement, and they did, just the wrong one.

This is year 3 and we all assumed that this team was going in the right direction with talent and leadership. Could we have been hoodwinked that badly? Easy enough if you listen to the teams spin and not SEE what is going on. Well I have opened my eyes and stopped drinking the Kool-Aid. This team needs to SHOW ME from now on. The hell with it. I am tired of seeing poor product from the team. If they do not get better sooner than later, my Sunday's will see me fishing and hunting.
