Ask A Chiefs Fan - Lions Edition
yeah I know, we just lost a brutal game to the Bills and it's too early to think about the Lions, and now we have not just Moeaki but also Berry out for the year and the world could end tomorrow ...
... but it probably won't, which means we have questions to answer from hungy Lions Fans who wanna know everything we can tell them about how to beat the Chiefs
come on over, friends ... and remember, stay classy

Given yesterday's game, I'd say that in order for the Lions to beat the Chiefs...
they need to show up.
Can I point out something?
You guys still have a beastly running back and a decent QB/WR core, one bad game notwithstanding. (Note: As a Lions fan, I am heavily experienced in bad QB play. Cassell may not be Montana, but he’s not Andre Ware, either.)
I know it looks bad, but there was a reason you guys went 10-6 last year. I don’t expect a complete blowout two weeks in a row in the NFL, ever.
[...]when Giants coach Steve Owen, a certified defensive genius, was asked how he planned to stop Nagurski, he said: "With a shotgun, as he’s leaving the dressing room."
Cassel is having difficulties in the pocket.

I cannot believe we've stooped to the level where an opposing teams fan needs to talk us up on our own team.
Thanks for the kind words, but it’s going to be a dark season.
Maybe so, maybe no.
I seem to remember a Chiefs team that lost their starting QB Week 1 for almost three months. They lost the next game in OT and went 5-2 under Damon Freakin’ Huard after that.
Lemme repeat that. Damon. Freakin’. Huard.
I take ZERO for granted in the NFL. Of course, I still think the Lions are solid favorites to win this game and hope they do, but I’m not looking past the Chiefs.

Interesting point.
This game could have the makings of a trap game for the Lions. OK, maybe not but hear me out. The Lions go on the road and beat a pretty good team. On their way home they can’t stopping laughing at the abhoring performance mockery the Chiefs engaged in. We are the clear underdog but don’t sleep on us. I expect Haley to open up the playbook and insert some creativity into the game.
It is really bad when
we have to have a fan of the opposing team give us a pep talk. Well said Nobody Special. Some of our fans really know how to panic after week 1. Maybe things won’t get any better, but we could at least wait and see.
BTW, I like the lions. I hope you all continue to kick butt starting week 3.

I don't expect a blowout either...
But the Lions have a better defensive line than the Bills, and our O-line is looking pretty weak.
Romeo Crennel may be able to piece something together defensively to prepare for this game, but Eric Berry was the heart and soul of this defense and when he’s out, everything gets thrown off.
Of course, the Chiefs players are professionals and they have pride and I doubt they’ll look as unprepared. But I don’t see the Chiefs winning either, as much as it pains me to say that. Maybe I’m wrong. I hope I’m wrong.
Berry-less Chiefs
Throw the ball where Eric Berry should be, and you will win-end of discussion.
Throw the ball to Calvin Johnson regardless of who's covering him and you'll win.
Gentlemen, you can't fight in here. This is the war room!

fixed
Throw the ball to Calvin Jonhson the TE regardless because of who’s covering him and you’ll win
KC Draft prediction: No OT taken in first round

This is sooooo easy. Throw it to Megatron, you've got Stafford
Once Flowers/Carr/Pishitelli & McGraw are worn out, do it again.
Run the ball a couple of times to keep the RB’s warm for the following week.
This is what we’ll do….R2P2. We’ll run it twice, Cassell will pass the ball TO HIMSELF no less (that’s not a joke, he did it this week) and then we’ll punt it on 4th down.
BE CAREFUL: Haley has been known to go for it on 4th down from our own 30. He’s sneaky that way….course it’ll give you great field position.
Over reacting Kool-aid drinkers!
Yes the team that we love to follow laid a turd on the field yesterday. Our shinning star on defense went down, sucks a big one.
There was nothing to take out of the game as a positive.
As bad as some of the fans are taking it, I will still be a Chiefs fan in the morning.
I've been saying the same thing for 40 years...and still going
I’ve also said I can’t wait to win another postseason game….and I’ve been saying that for 17 years. We’re all Chiefs fans, but how many on here have waited 40 years?
I will continue to say it Truth!
Yes I was in the old stadium with my Dad, I was also one of the 1’st employees at Arrowhead.
The sun will raise out of the east and set in the west. When that given changes I will be Real worried.
I think there are very few of us.
I think based on some of the posters (Lanier, Ups, me, you) the majority are “kids” in their 20’s and 30’s.
They don’t remember going to the games in the 80’s and walking down from the nosebleeds to sit on the 50 yard line during half-time. I remember those days well.
I also remember Blackledge and how we picked him ahead of Marino.
I remember the “5 year plan” that turned into 20.
I remember $1 beers at the stadium
I remember when everyone was talking about baseball and no one was talking football. That all changed in 1993. A guy by the name of Montana showed up and people got fed up with waiting on the Royals to win again (think about that….we won the WS in ’85 and in ’93 we became a football city).
Yet, through all of the above, we still believe and we still pay $27 to park our cars.
How do we cover
Johnson Pettigrew and Sheffler….they are all 6’5 and thick as crap!
We got handled by a 6’7 unknown TE from the Bills named Scott Chandler…
I can’t imagine what the Lions big receivers will do to our coverage.
McCluster: My heart is so big, man. A lot of people come to me all the time and say ‘You’re 165 pounds, how do you do it?’ And I look at them and tell them, you know what? I’ve got the heart of a lion. I’m not scared of nobody.

CHIEFS WILL
lose all 16 games and draft luck
South Carolina chief fan here. Eat my arrowhead covered shorts rest of the west ,dallas and pats.
I'm actually still semi-confident in our defense,
but only if our offensive play-calling gets figured out. You get three downs to go 10 yards (in most cases). Your plays (including throws) need to be scripted to get at LEAST 3.5 yards. Not 1. Or 2. Or -4 (okay, so maybe that one wasn’t part of the plan).
Surprised Detriot is only 10 point fav.
I’d fully expect them to cover and then some. Don’t worry about covering anyone beyond 5 yards. Cassel will just check it down anyway. I was surprised the pass pro looked ok, but again, Cassel will sit back there and hang onto the ball until his backs come free for a 3 yard completion. On the defensive side…. just go deep. Our CBs were all hype this offseason, but it’s become very obvious that they aren’t fast enough to keep up with WR ‘powerhouses’ like the Bills have. Not having Berry will allow you to go deep in the middle of the field all day.
With all that said, I’d expect you guys to win be atleast 17 points. Anything less and I would seriously raise questions about your team.
GOD, THIS FREAKING SEASON CAN’T END SOON ENOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We wont get Blown out
Haley is smart enough to slow the game down as much as possible..we still have the run game to do it if we can execute (I know..big IF) but think about it. Our D will get torched so lets not keep them on the field all game like last week Lions 17 Chiefs 6
