Its simple.....RUN THE BALL!!!

Was I the only person screaming for the #1 ranked rushing offense to call a running play??? If I had to come up with a positive thought from that game it would be that our rushing offense looked a lot better today(probably because t. jones didnt touch the ball.....very happy to see mccluster getting all his carries/touches!) than it did in the preseason. I just can't wrap my head around why we came out looking like the saints with 5 WRs and an empty backfield!!!

Before everyone chimes in with the "we were playing from behind and forced to air it out" comments let just say that I'm mainly talking about the first half and first possession of second half when we were only down by 13 or less. I was okay with not running the ball for like the first two series, but when it became obvious early that Matt Cassel couldn't throw the ball downfield. The ONLY way he is effective is when the running game is working, which opens up the passing game for those checkdown throws that he can execute.

I especially hated the shotgun draw plays.....your not fooling anyone(except for that one time where mccluster broke for about 25yds, lol). Im pretty sure that everytime Jamal touched the ball he got positive yards, even on the fumble. Bottom Line: Jamals a beast, give him the rock!! Line up in a normal running formation and run it down there throats! Another positive note, I really liked how they put charles and mccluster in the backfield together. I know its hard to put a positive spin on anything after getting blown out at home against one of the worst teams in the NFL but if Haley knows whats good for this team he will get back to the basics and run the ball early and often.......and keep jones on the bench!

P.S. Does anyone have an update on the Eric Berry injury? I saw him get hurt early but he came back in and then it looked like he just fell down and grabbed his knee. Trying not to get to worried but when its a non-contact injury like that it makes me very nervous
