Ron Edwards' Injury Will Keep Him Out For A While For Panthers
The Kansas City Chiefs elected not to re-sign DT Ron Edwards in the free agency period this year and he went on to sign a three-year, $8.25 million deal with the Carolina Panthers.
In his very first practice, Edwards suffered an injury -- a serious one. Reportedly, it was a torn triceps. Joe Person of the Charlotte Observer updates us on his condition:
BREAKING: Ron Edwards will have surgery. Out indefinitely.
It'll be a long recovery process, unfortunately. Sad news for Edwards.
It goes to show you how quickly things can change in the NFL and how you need competent back-ups at every single position because serious injuries like this aren't that uncommon in the NFL.
He's not a Chief anymore but we still wish the best to Ron Edwards. We wouldn't wish this on anyone.

shows the real danger
of the non team regulated practices while the cba was going on. a tricep injury could have easily happened then leaving big ron on the streets w/ no pay check.
Good thing we moved away from when we did
But that sort of thing happens in the league.

Get well soon Ron, really!
That sucks big time.

Those that wish potentially fatal diseases or other ill-fortunes on others, are the LOWEST form of trash!
League-wide, I suspect training camp injuries will soar this year despite caution and best intentions.
Seems like there are daily reports of fluky first-week injuries everywhere. Not sure if players are pressing too hard until something snaps, crackles or pops.
Or, whether it’s due more to off-season training that had no access to team coaches and trainers to monitor players’ conditioning and recovery benchmarks.
Or, whether the injury rate is on par with years past, and I’m just hyper-aware of camp headlines after weeks of not-really-football off-season headlines.
In any case, I too wish Big Ron a speedy recovery.
Strive for greatness, Red and Gold.
