The hype and emotional drain that is Free Agency has all but sputter-out, so I've been filling the void of anticipation for the Preseason/Regular Season with camp news, and teaching myself how to use a smoker. Nothing beats being a KC Chiefs Fan. And NOTHING, beats KC BBQ. Since I'm already a Chiefs Fan, I felt I might as well learn a thing or two about how to cook (in this case smoke) BBQ. Its been an adventure to say the least.
Earlier this week Scotty-2-Hotty Pioli stated that the Chiefs are "committed to spending $119 million this year." The Chiefs still, at the moment, have about $20 million to go. Obviously the move that makes the most sense is to resign our In-House, pivotal players, and lock them up for another 5 years (not sold on Bowe, just my opinion).
I've liked the moves the Chiefs have made in FA so far but, I still believe there will be more players available that will help this team achieve their full potential, and soon. This is where the CUTS come in.
Pioli has made it clear he likes wily veterans that have some gas left and offer at least one-to-two more seasons on the cheap, while providing depth and leadership for our youth movement. I don't know enough to make assumptions about who could get cut or from where, but I do know that the NFL is an unpredictable beast, and crazy things happen all the time.
So for those of you who know more than me (which is an overwhelming majority), hit me with some knowledge about who you think we could pick up and what positions you still see as needs. IMO, I'd like to see more depth at NT & OT, a true veteran QB, and possibly another S as well.
I like where we're sitting right now as a team, and in our division. We've added quality pieces to an already talented young team and these guys are only going to get better. Exciting time to be a Chiefs fan. Can't wait for the season to begin!
As always, GO CHIEFS!
And BBQ!
