Rams Vs. Chiefs: Finding The Unknown Players
It's always interesting preparing for the Kansas City Chiefs games each week because we learn about players on the opposing team that we've never really heard of before. The same goes for the Chiefs opponents getting ready to play KC.
There are tons of young players across the league that only the local team's fan base really knows about. TE Tony Moeaki is a good example. Here in KC, we know this guy is legit and could be a rising star in the league but he's hardly a household name.
Talking to SB Nation's Turf Show Times this week, I wanted to find out about a couple of the unknown players that we'll see in Friday's game. I asked Turf Show Times to name someone on both offense and defense for the Rams who Chiefs fans will get to know on Friday night.
On offense:
Rookie TE Lance Kendricks turned heads with his play and, really, just his constant presence in the offense, working out wide, in-line and in the backfield. People wondered about him as a second-round pick, but the talent is there. Brandon Gibson flashed some talent when he first arrived in a trade with the Eagles in 2009. He's a guy could get some attention this year.
On defense:
The good and bad news is that you would have seen most of the same defense last year, when the Chiefs rolled over the Rams in the regular season. Players like Bradley Fletcher, Chris Long and James Laurinaitis have an upgraded cast around thim. Safety Quintin Mikell was the Rams' first priority in free agency. He improves the secondary and a pass rush that looks a little deeper and more diverse this year.

When healhty, could be a force with the Rams.. Played well in his first game versus SD last year caught a bomb from Bradford where he blew pass Antoine Cason. Would have been a solid pick in the draft but tore out his knee. I see lots of potential there.
agree

hi, Mo! 5 minutes!!!
Looks like D.A. will be cut
his knee needs surgery in the near future for the sixth time, he can get on the field but after last week’s game he missed practice the next day because they had to “manage” his knee. it seems, to use a hermism, as if he’ll never be fully available. I’m sad, i was hoping he could get it done, he definitely has what it takes.

When do we get our talk shit on St Louis post?
Standing on the corner in a white Godfather hat. He drives a long black gangster Cadillac. He can steal a broads mind, man, in three or four minutes. It’s not how long you talk, brother, it’s what you put in it.
Tomorrow or Sunday morning
Still deciding.

no … we have an annual “I Hate St Louis Because …” post (or more, best was one Parade did last year, that might have been a re-post, but it rocked)

hi, Mo! 5 minutes!!!
there are some pretty good ones at RoyalsReview as well
it really is a good rivalry in both sports, while not actually being a rivalry. If that makes any sense at all.
more sense than we usually make ;-)

I try to sign up at all the bogs of opposing teams at the beginning of the season
because a bunch of them have a 24hr waiting period to comment so if there is something you really wanna say it will get lost within that day
I wanna see Mikell do well this year
Was a huge fan when he was playing for the Eagles. Hung out with him a few times, really cool guy. He deserved the contract. He turned down a lot more big money offers a few years ago to resign with Philly because of loyalty and they fucked him in the end anyway. Well it is a business after all
I say why all the division
Its all one state, lets just make two teams. We’ll keep the Chiefs uniform and the games have to be played at arrowhead as it is a superior stadium. We’ll ditch Cassell for Bradford. We’ll keep our defense as it is better, and maybe make a patchwork of offensive lineman mixing the two squads. Then I say we put McDaniels under the authority of Todd Haley. Will be a lot of fun
#1 We are not cutting Bowe for Fitz. Bowe grew up in Kc. He is Haley's work. Also he will be loads cheaper than Fitz. He is a homegrown K.C. product. He stays. #2 Flowers and Carr are both staying.
And you have the United Chiefs of the Show Me State

Correction. One team from two teams.
