An Apology... Sort of

Let me start off by apologizing; i made a comment last night on the story about the Denver Broncos signing of Ty Warren that caused some uproar.  I called Clark Hunt cheap and criticized what the Chiefs have done thus far in free agency.  I overstated my dislike of Clark Hunt and i under valued the signings that the chiefs have made so far this offseason.  Forst off I don't hate Clark Hunt and I don't think he's one of the very worst owners in the league but I do think he is cheap and cares more about money than the well being of the team and no one can change my mind on that.  The main criticism in my comment was the fact that the Chiefs have spent very little money this offseason.  I want to make it very clear that I in no way want the Chiefs to build their team through free agency or be anything like the Redskins, Eagles, or the hated Raiders.  In fact I lost all respect for the Eagle's organiztion this offseason when they went out and this past week and blew money like nobody's business. I hate that.  Even if they win a Super Bowl or 3 I will put an asterisk by their title because they won with no gamesmanship and no concept of team building.  If they win a championship it will be purely because of the money they have spent this offseason.  Again I hate that, where is the skill in building a team by throwing out money left and right?

I clearly am not upset with the Chiefs because they did not throw out money to any player with a big name.  I am somewhat upset with the Chiefs because I feel that this offseason they have given up the chance to improve the team significantly with a few young and key signings. But what makes me most upset about what the Chiefs have done this offseason is the fact that they have not gotten any long term deals done with key players whose contracts expire next offseason.  Theres no need to retype these players names because everyone knows who they are already.  The Chiefs should have used this offseason to make tru progress on the contracts of their own players, and yes if the money was right, which it would have been for guys like Ryan Harris and Franklin (1 year, 3 million), sign a few talented players to help improve the team into the future.  I am severely worried because I do not see the front office coming to terms with new deals for Tamba, both Brandons, D-Bowe, and Gilberry, during the season this year.  Tamba Halimay even hold out due to the fact that so little progress is being made on the contract front and Gilberry has already shown his displeasure and feelins of being unwanted on his twitter account.  If we lose any one of these players, the whole team would take a huge step back.  This is why I am mad at the Chiefs.  I could be wrong but from reading between the lones it ha seemed that there has been very littleto any progress made with at least Carr and Gilberry.

All this aside I want everyone who criticised my comment to know that I am a huge Chiefs fan.  Enormous actually, so do not take my comment as a lack of loyalty or fairweather fan who wants a big name signing.  I am neither of these I am just a fan who wants the team to continue to get better and lock up their own talent and if Clark Hunt and his heapness get in the way of that, I will voice my frustration.
