Things I want to see during the second preseason game.

So I thought about typing up what I saw last Friday as far as the good, the bad, the ugly, and the bizarre, but that's been done to death, so what's the next best thing? Well, how about this weeks game? I've thought about it for the better part of a couple days (I mean, what else am I going to do, work? haha), and I've come up with a few things that I'd really like to see during this next game against the Ravens. So, without further adieu, here's Dan's Wishlist for Preaseason Game #2:

1) The Cassel-Baldwin Connection:

I've been salivating about this ever since we drafted this guy. Baldwin showed me he knows how to go after the ball last week, and I really wanna see what he can do with an actual quarterback throwing him the ball. The guy's got the size, speed, and instincts to be a VERY good receiver in this league, and I think he's gonna open up this offense like buckshot to a zombie head. On the other side, I want to see Cassel throw some deep balls to a guy who knows how to go up and get them. That's always been the knock on him, and now I feel like there's no excuses. It's put up or shut up time for Cassel; will he just be the game manager, Trent Dilfer-style QB, or is he going to take the next step into something more?

2) Release The Hounds:

I want some QB's to eat dirt. I want to see some honest to God, old-fashioned, rough and tough pass rushing. Let Hali, Gilberry, and Houston go to town on Flacco.  I'm especially excited to see Houston get at it. For all the criticism he;s taken for being to camp late and out of shape, the guy looks like he has the physical tools to give QB's nightmares the likes of which they haven't had since Poltergeist. That said, I wanna SEE it. I want to see it from the unit as a whole. Last year we took a giant step forward in our pass rush, and I have every reason to hope that we've only gotten better in that department.

3) The New Kids On The Block:

Gimme some Breaston running slants. Gimme some McClain slamming the ball up the gut. Gimme some Kelly Gregg clogging holes in the middle. Gimme some Jared Gaither holding down that tackle spot (don't care which honestly).  I want to see these new guys in action and doing what we hired them to do. Siler seemed OK to me last preseason game, as did our rookies, but it's time to get these semi-big named free agents into the mix. Let's light it up and see what we got.

4) Captain America: Football Police - KC style:

That's right, I wanna see Stanzi get a ton of plays. I'd REALLY love for him to sit behind the 1st team O-line to see what he can do when he's not running for his life like a chicken in the tiger pen at the zoo. The kid's got a LOT of raw talent, and I wanna see some of it. Being an uber-patriot is all well and good, and I love Stanzi's quotes, but I wanna see some more actual football from the guy.  He looked pretty good in the first game, so I'd love to see him get a chance to play with the big boys, if only for a drive or two.

5) Show Me Something:

My apologies to all the Kansas-side readers, but this team is based in Missouri, the Show-Me-State. We've been talking about how awesome our offense is going to be this year with the passing game finally commanding some respect, and how much better our defense is gonna be with Houston and Powe, and without Vrabel, but talk is cheap. I want to see some smashmouth, run you into the ground football. It's been a long summer, and I'm hungry to see some of our boys in red lighting things up. It's no longer enough for me to fantasize about Cassel tossing bombs to Baldwin and Bowe, or our (seemingly) hundred runningbacks running rampant on the league, or our defense becoming a lockdown, stonewall force to be reckoned with.  I want to see it, even if only for a quarter, or even an opening drive. Some me something KC.

And there you have it. Those are my top 5 most wanted things to see this week (is that even a sentence?). What say you AP? What do you wanna see happen against the team that ended our season last year?
