Palko still ahead of Stanzi?
What does Haley see in Palko?

Complete bullshit. It's just a motivational tool for the guys that they already
know are going to be number one….in a lot of cases that is.

I liked what I saw from him
and that guy is stout, he LOOKS like a hard hitting LB.
Also liked what I saw from Brown and Baldwin. Tough to swallow the game overall but there were some bright spots.

lots of promise out of some young guys
take away the performance of the UDFA offensive line, and the fumbles… and there would be a lot more good stuff to discuss
Micah looked big during the game
At one point I thought he was a defensive lineman. If he can make his reads properly and quickly, that would be a lot of LB to block.

I hope Colbert gets some reps
I think he would be good experienced depth at WR
"The Chiefs only won last season's opener against the Chargers because of the monsoon that night".........yeah because it only rains on one team at a time!
I just don't know if he has the speed that we'd want

The Chiefs and I have mutually agreed on this decision and although I look forward to continuing my career, I’ll always have a special place in my heart for Kansas City.
beautiful
props to TRS and you (for stealing his idea)

hi, Mo! 5 minutes!!!
Hahaha
True, I’m thinking maybe inside depth (backup to Breaston). He would be good to have around on 3rd down.
I’m still gonna petition for the Tecmo Bowl pic!

Avi back by popular demand.
And I honestly don’t know enough first-hand about Colbert (the WR, not the show host) to really have an opinion. I know what I’ve read, but I haven’t had a chance to look at any film of him.
As with anyone we sign, I hope he can make a difference and be a legitimate contributor for us. And if he does, then awesomeness ensues. I should put that on my list for research this week.
But I’m still geeking out too much about Kelly Gregg, so it’ll have to wait.

Cassel liked him when he was at USC....
"He doesn’t show a lot of emotion. He lets his play do his talking and leads by the way he acts and goes about his business. He prepares to be the top guy. He doesn’t take dropping balls or anything like that lightly." USC quarterback Matt Cassel
"Nobody scares us," Dion Gales said. "Where I’m from, it ain’t how big or small a man is, it’s the size of the fight in them.
"I’ll be doggone if I let another man beat me, that’s just my attitude. I’m not scared of another man."
Right. I've read a good bit on him, just haven't watched games with him yet.
Usually when I get some time I’ll dig up some games on people we acquire so I can put the eye test and compare to things I’ve read. Like McClain and Gregg – I knew about them before, but hadn’t really focused on them on the field until we got them.
I’ve read some good things, and some blasé reviews as well. Still, if he can come in and tear it up, I’ll be a happy camper.
Not to be confused with a hippie camper. I have to have a shower every day. I just do.

I think expectations should be
pretty low at this point. Not to say I dont want him to be awesome, I do. I think if he comes in and can be a capable backup with veteran leadership I would be happy.
Solid hands, good route running, and someone the defense has to account for when he is lined up. Thats all I ask for.

you gotta think he's a longshot for the roster at best, though
Bowe, Baldwin, Urban, Breaston are locks for the first 4 WR spots.
McCluster should count against RB, but he’s a “sometimes WR”
Tucker/Copper/Horne/Paul/Williams/Colbert and others are all competing for 1-2 roster spots…
and you know Haley loves Copper.
Longshot yeah
But you gotta think a guy like Colbert is probably on his last leg in the NFL. He probably is not going to get more chances to make a team. He is going to give those guys a run for their money. He has NFL experience and now some minor college coaching experience. He should know what he is doing out there.
His connection with Cassel doesnt hurt either. Not saying he makes the team but he has a little more to lean on in my opinion.

Man, a WR the defense would have to account for other than Bowe
Seems almost like an unrealistic expectation, doesn’t it?

For real - how long has it been?
I guess you could count the years with T.Gonz as “having multiple threats” on the field – but it’s just not quite the same.
Not only might we have 2+ WRs that demand respect but also a solid TE. I hope they are used well.

From Bowe...thats it!
To Bowe, Baldwin, and Breaston! If I were Cassel I would be so stoked right now!
Baldwin reminds me of Larry Fitzgerald. Not in pure talent but his size and ability to jump over guys to grab a high throw. This is going to be one exciting passing offense when you add Moeaki to it all.

Easy to read too much into it, BUT at risk of doing so...
… bringing a thumper into that WILB spot might change the equation in some interesting ways. Let him play downhill, more, mopping up what these active, but smaller and less disciplined backup RDEs are creating. Use inside leverage and hard jam, so any WR wanting into the middle has to take the long way around, denying the short zone you otherwise would expend that WILB on. If they CAN go bigger at WILB in some situations, it might be totally in-line with a more dictatorial style of D, and one that works better, considering the anemic/inconsistent weak side pass rush I’m fearing they’re going to have with whatever front 3 they put together out of the guys @ practice. I’m not shouting praises of Hali in coverage, but that right side has to be able to bring pressure when he DOES drop back or stay at home, spying on the HB. I’m not as optimistic as I was before Friday night’s game that this is going to get turned around.
Granted, Friday was the 1st time I’ve seen ‘em TRY to send SOLB as the 4th man, with this young group. I see signs that it’ll be more powerful from that strong side, but I haven’t seen Dorsey/Gilberry as the outside pass rushers from the weak side in combo with Houston/Miller/Sheffield. So far, I’ve seen mostly both sides of the pincer movement taking far too long to turn the corner and collapse the pocket from the outside. Flashes from all those guys, and one or two from Bailey at LDE, but mostly just looking like young players still learning how to play in the NFL.
would of ≠ would've
