Former Chief Maurice Leggett No Longer In Detroit

We were talking about the players that have left the Kansas City Chiefs this year whether it's through free agency or getting released and mentioned that CB Maurice Leggett joined the Detroit Lions.

That's true. He did join the Lions -- as in the past tense -- last week.

But he's no longer there.

The Lions picked up a pair of running backs yesterday after rookie RB Mikel Leshoure was lost for the season and Leggett was waived/injured to make room for them. That waived/injured designation means he wasn't healthy (by the Lions standards, at least) so I'm not sure what happened.

So by my count, that's just three Chiefs that have left the team that have signed contracts elsewhere:

DT Shaun Smith to the Tennessee Titans
DT Ron Edwards to the Carolina Panthers
G/C Rudy Niswanger to the Detroit Lions

I'm disappointed that Smith didn't return

I thought he was a colorful character who really improved the quality of the defense.

QB Garrett Gilbert was the Beavis & Butthead episode of the 2010 college football season. Even when things were going well there was always one bad decision that meant he wasn’t going to score.

Poor Detroit

Leshoure out for the season, Fairley with a broken foot, Titus Young is gimpy… so that’s their 3 top picks down right now, one gone for the season and one out for a while. At least Young should be back shortly, but still, sheesh.

Gosder Cherilus is dinged, Jeff Backus is hurt and the guy that came in to replace him, Jason Fox, went down and is in a walking-boot. They now have a cobbled together O-line.

If they’re lucky Matthew Stafford will play his first full season ever – otherwise it looks like another year in the Pit of Despair for Detroit fans (… don’t even think about trying to escape. The chains are far too thick. Don’t dream of being rescued, either.)

Ok I just have to ask this and no disrespect to the former Chiefs, However....

But when they played here, the Chiefs sucked…Does the Lions, who keep picking up former Chiefs, WANT to KEEP sucking also? How on earth could you be a Lions fan each and every year and not go schizo?
