Another Former Chief Heads To The Lions
I was just writing a story looking at where some of the Kansas City Chiefs unsigned free agents were headed. We have DE Shaun Smith to the Titans, DT Ron Edwards to the Panthers and CB Maurice Leggett to the Lions.
Now we can add another to the list: G/C Rudy Niswanger to the Lions. This according to Aaron Wilson of Scout.com. Niswanger becomes, from what I can tell, the fourth player that left the Chiefs this season to sign with another team.
The KC connection in Detroit is Lions defensive coordinator Gunther Cunningham. The actual connection, as Wilson points out, is Niswanger's college offensive line coach being in Detroit.
Niswanger entered the league in 2006 as an undrafted free agent and spent three years as a reserve and two years as a starter at center for the Chiefs. He was the bridge between C Casey Wiegmann's departure and his return two years later.
Niswanger was the Chiefs player rep which became an important role over the last year. He was the main line of communication between the high-level labor negotiations and the rest of the Chiefs players.
Glad to hear Niswanger caught on with another team.

Is it not now amazing
to see Chiefs players being picked up by other teams? The talent level in KC has risen. This is what we wanted from Pioli/Haley. It’s good to have people on staff that are hungry to win.
"You gonna pull them pistols...or whistle Dixie?"
To be fair, the talent level has been rising since Dickie V left town
we just now have enough of it where our scrubs are desirable to other teams
You can't live that American dream on foot, bro. Aint nobody riding horses no more.
I agree with that
but it’s just nice to see other teams looking to the chiefs for fodder.
"You gonna pull them pistols...or whistle Dixie?"
Lets hope he starts against us.

Yeah he might have his hands full with Kelly Gregg
The Chiefs and I have mutually agreed on this decision and although I look forward to continuing my career, I’ll always have a special place in my heart for Kansas City.
Might?
Nis can no more block NT’s like Gregg one-on-one than I can.
I’m PRAYING he starts. Nice guy, not nearly strong enough to be a C.
I love my wife, my kids, and the Chiefs. In that order. Except on game days.

Thrilled for him
And glad I don’t have to watch him on the field for us anymore. I’ll definitely still keep up with him on Twitter, though – dude is very fan-friendly and encouraging.
This is not going to help Stafford stay healthy this year.
It is what it is and we are who we are.
Sober (again) since January 10th, 2011.
