With the news that the Chiefs did not sign the NT we coveted in Franklin, and hearing how the NT is defensive equivalent in importance to the QB on offense.,,,add to that the fact that Hali is pure pass rusher and more of a liability in coverage, plus the fact that Dorsey is undersized for a 3-4 DE but not necessarily a 4-3 DE.
I admit that I am just wondering aloud here, but what if we went back to a 4-3....I am not sure who we would want where, but I am saying probably a good idea to put Hali and Dorsey as edge rushers with Houston and Bailey backing them up. On the inside possibly Jackson and Gregg. Or maybe move Dorsey in and put Gilberry on the outside.
I think DJ is a capable linebacker in either system...I dont know about our other LB...that would probably become the position of greatest need....I just wonder if it would be easier for a coach (Crennel) to learn a new defense than to attempt to put square pegs through round holes....
The major problem with this switch for the current year would be a lack of time to implement with no OTAs and a late free agency....but what do you think of the idea?
