DE Ty Warren, OT Nick Kaczur Among Patriots Cuts
The New England Patriots made a couple of roster moves today and I'm wondering if a couple of them may interest the Kansas City Chefs. The Patriots announced the release of a number of players, including DE Ty Warren and OT Nick Kaczur.
The Warren release is a surprise but New England area reporters are suggesting that he could return under a more cap-friendly contract.
The Kaczur release is pretty interesting to me. He played right tackle in New England -- behind Chiefs OT Ryan O'Callaghan at one point -- so GM Scott Pioli is familiar with him. Reportedly, the Patriots wanted him to agree to a pay cut.
We've been talking about whether the Chiefs will add anyone to the offensive line in free agency. At right tackle, OT Ryan O'Callaghan is a free agent and OT Barry Richardson has a restricted free agent tender on him.
Kaczur is 32 years old so I'd guess he wouldn't be incredibly expensive. It's a situation worth exploring for the Chiefs, if you ask me (which you didn't).

ty warren is interesting, As is Kaczur as a little insurance at tackle
Team Pioli/Haley. Decade of the Chiefs.

Speaking of O'Cal
I know he’s a free agent, but I would think he would be a pretty set guy to re-sign….right?
I was thinking that too
I wouldn’t mind seeing him back. He was ahead of Barry on the depth chart before getting injured.

He had hip surgery last season
and said he could have actually played through it last year, but decided on surgery because of the long term. I’d take Warren in a heartbeat
Hm, maybe that's partly what got him cut. Not playing though it, I mean.

Hey, now, Joel, you don't get paid for opinions!!!! LOL
We’ll pass on Kaczur. He’s just not much of an upgrade to our current situation, plagued with injuries and whatnot.
Now, Alge Crumpler…with Moeaki on PUP, Cottam released, and Pope is god knows where….There’s a possible option.
Possible
Even if we bring him in for DE he’s about on par with Dorsey’s production.. So a solid rotation guy..
Thank the tiny infant baby Jesus we will have football!!!!!
Who cares what the Pats did...
we need that weather report for practice in St. Joe tonight.

Not really that interested in Kaczur.
It scares me that he didn’t play last season due to back issues. Warren’s interesting. I’m surprised they cut him.

What makes Kaczur appealing is he can play G and T
Ty Warren is coming off of a major injury and thats probably more the reason he got cut, along with the money.

hi, Mo! 5 minutes!!!
I know everyone has an instant hard-on for Warren but....
Warren missed the entire 2010 season with a torn labrum in his hip. It’s the kind of injury that can linger for more than a year, and in this case it likely has. Warren was due just $3.1 million and would have been a good bet to start at left end if healthy

yeah, I think it's fair to think he can play a role-like that as a rookie
But it still seems pretty thin up front with Smith being gone. I don’t want to overstate a rookies role
Be sure you put your feet in the right place, then stand firm.
-Abraham Lincoln
With Smith gone
I’m guessing T-Jax just takes his snaps.
Since he’s not in on passing downs, he ought to be just fine. If Dorsey can do it, so can he.
I love my wife, my kids, and the Chiefs. In that order. Except on game days.
right, but an injury to either and we're in trouble unless Gilberry becomes a more complete DE
I expect TJax to have a big year. Just seems as if it’s a pretty thin position right now.
Be sure you put your feet in the right place, then stand firm.

True story. Although I have a serious, serious feeling about Bailey
I could be wrong. I know he was just a 3rd rounder and he’s a rook. But I have a funny feeling about him being a contributor.
I love my wife, my kids, and the Chiefs. In that order. Except on game days.
I feel the same but I have that little voice saying, "he's just a rook".
I think he and Gilberry will be a force in the nickel though.

I realize you have to upgrade talent wherever and whenever you can.
But I’m getting a little tired of picking up every single decent Patriots’ cast-off. Particularly if they’re old with a history of injuries.

I hear Randy Moss is available.
For that matter, Drew Bledsoe might be willing to come to KC as a backup.
Failing that, we need to pursue John Hannah. Decades of time off = well rested interior lineman.
