Rodney Hudson Becomes 7th Chiefs Draft Pick To Sign

TALLAHASSEE FL - NOVEMBER 27: Rodney Hudson #62 of the Florida State Seminoles celebrates a touchdown during a game against the Florida Gators at Doak Campbell Stadium on November 27 2010 in Tallahassee Florida. (Photo by Mike Ehrmann/Getty Images)

Make it seven of 'em.

Josh Looney of KCChiefs.com reports C Rodney Hudson is signed, sealed and delivered meaning he can participate in training camp.

Hudson, the Chiefs second round pick, marks the seventh draft pick KC has signed so far. The team officially announced six of them earlier today.

So here's who has signed: Hudson, DL Allen Bailey, DB Jalil Brown, QB Ricky Stanzi, LB Gabe Miller, DL Jerrell Powe and FB Shane Bannon.

And here's who is left: WR Jonathan Baldwin, LB Justin Houston.

Baldwin of course is the Chiefs first round pick so no surprise that he could be the last one. Houston could be a bit of an interesting case considering so many people thought he was a fringe first rounder.

GM Scott Pioli said it's reasonable to expect all nine of these guys to get into camp on time. The clock is ticking but he's getting closer.

Likewise.

They should have a week-long free agency period every year. Although it’s really lowered our productivity at work. Instead of talking about football moves once or twice a day, it’s once or twice an hour.

Should be good for the best agents

and weed out the smaller agencies in the future. Quick signings fast money, less players dropping agents due to contract BS.

This will make it stable unless agents find a new loop hole, but I bet the new CBA is pretty ironclad when it comes to the language in the rookie cap.

We shall see.

Do people think getting them signed so quickly

is a product of the New CBA.? The time frame in which they were given before camp actually started? Or some combo of both?

by dwil2009 on Jul 28, 2011 6:12 PM CDT reply actions

Mostly the new CBA.

There is some wiggle room for guaranteed money, but contracts are mostly predetermined. In fact, PFT predicted no holdouts by draftees.

So the two "character concerns" are left.

Houstohole and Baldhole.

Baldhole sounds a little risqué.

It was either that or Jonhole.

I would kill to sit at that table

This is my signature line. It is full of awesome and win.

Nah.

Two of ’em are too dumb to say anything, and the other two are too smart.

if you see an "I heart Radio" concert ticket lying on the street

I’d buy that for my wifes bday next week. She literally wouldn’t talk to me for an hour because I was calling her during a radio’s call-and-win-moment, I called and screwed up the other call.

She blames me for not getting to see Carrie Underwood.

How are we doing compared to the rest of the league

as far as signing rookies? On par? Behind? Ahead?

You think it's coincidence that I bleed red?

by Mully on Jul 28, 2011 7:11 PM CDT reply actions

Probably about the same.

We only have two picks unsigned, and from what I’ve noticed (without really looking into it), an awful lot of picks have signed with other teams too.
