Update: Chris Chambers has been officially released.
We heard about one rumored cut by the Kansas City Chiefs earlier today - CB Jackie Bates - and it appears another one could be coming.
But we're not totally sure.
Adam Teicher is in St. Joe now awaiting the Kansas City Chiefs team arrival at training camp and he caught up with WR Chris Chambers, who is not with the Chiefs in St. Joe, via email. Teicher reported that Chambers said he's "not officially" released and sees the writing is on the wall.
If it turns out that Chris Chambers will not be a Kansas City Chief in 2011, it comes as no surprise.
Chambers came to the Kansas City Chiefs on waivers in early November of the 2009 season. He had a number of good games in the rest of 2009, earning 36 catches, 608 yards and 4 touchdowns.
For that, the Chiefs rewarded Chris Chambers with a new contract in March 2010 including a reported $5.9 million in guaranteed money. Unfortunately, Chambers didn't reward the Chiefs in return. In 2010, he only had 22 catches for 213 yards.
We'll see if/when the Chiefs make the Chambers release official.
