Kansas City Chiefs - Since they lost Jared Allen in 2008, and moved Tamba Hali to linebacker, Kansas City has chosen to beef up its defensive line considerably. They drafted Glenn Dorsey (297 LBS) in 2008 and moved him to defensive end, Tyson Jackson (296 LBS) in 2009 and moved him to defensive end, and would be ecstatic to sign Franklin (317 LBS) and put him in between them in 2011. Franklin would vastly improve a defense that was already a top ranked defense last season.

So Madden must forecast us losing Gilberry since he is currently #92

If we sign Franklin
with no other additions besides re-signing our own guys we’re a lock for 10-11 wins
Well we have some UDFA's
so 19-0 with your math?

Might both be on page 51, but in completely different books

i love your bold optimism :)
i’m actually right there with you. our defense is looking quite scary on paper. especially with the big guy in charge of it. i think we will start to be able to overcome so, so much with our defense soon.
if rhymes were valiums, i'd be comfortably numb

Cause Edwards was really replaced by what we had on the roster last year when he wore down?
Exactly.

Shaun Smith stepped into nose and played very well
It was the Injury to TJax all year that left our d-line thin.
Smith played decent at the nose but was much better at DE actually
We had no better replacement for Edwards last year, and the 49ers do not have a great replacement for Franklin. Really its the same situation, add in injuries or whatever other situation you want to spin it for Franklin
