Who doesn't like Free? Well, Doug Free is not exactly Free but he won't cost a draft pick either. Would it be worth the Kansas City Chiefs time to persue Free in Free Agency? We have One tackle under contract as of today for 2011, Branden Albert. Barry Richardson is a restricted Free Agent. Ryan O'Callaghan is an unrestricted Free Agent. The Dallas Cowboys might want to re-sign him, but they are about 12 million over the cap at present.
The top ranked Run blocking Tackle in the league according to www.profootballfocus.com in 2010. Free started 16 games for Dallas at Left Tackle and 7 games at Right Tackle in 2009. A Fourth round selection in 2007 by Dallas weighing in at 6'6 and 324 lbs, Doug is groomed and ready to play either Tackle position in 2011.
Now the positive side of me wants to let this be known. Doug Free is a homegrown prospect. We drafted him in the fourth round of the 2007 NFL Draft. We coached him up and developed him along. We finally hit on a really good offensive lineman prospect. We then gave Doug the franchise tackle position last year, we handed him the job and said Doug your our guy, make us proud. Doug Free did make us proud last year, at least me anyways. PFF graded him out as one of the best left tackles in football. So if we lose a guy like that, that we FINALLY hit on in the draft, it will crush me.
Would Doug Free be worth a look?
