EVERYDAY SOME LAME ON HERE MAKES A DUMB REMARK REGARDING ONE OF THE BEST COACHES KC HAS EVER HAD.....HERMAN EDWARDS......!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! .........NOW I KNOW THAT THIS WILL CAUSE ENDLESS DISSING BY ALL OF YOU HERM HATERS......BUT THE FACTS SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES.........HERM TOOK OVER A TEAM FULL OF SPOILED VETERANS THAT DICK VERMEIL BASICALLY ABANDONED............TOOK THEM TO THE PLAYOFFS AND IF IT HADNT BEEN FOR "THE BIG TIPTOE" AKA LJ AND THE WORST OFFENSIVE GAMEPLAN EVER WE MIGHT HAVE WON .....TY LAW DID SNATCH 2 PEYTON MANNING PASSES IN THE 1ST HALF....WE JUST COULDNT MUSTER ANYTHING AT ALL ON OFFENSE.....WHICH WAS DUE 2 A TERRIBLE OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR...

HERM THEN WENT ON TO BECOME THE BEST DRAFTER IN THE NFL PRIOR 2 PIOLI/HALEY.......UNDER HIS TENURE HE DRAFTS ...TAMBA HALI....DERRICK JOHNSON.....BRANDON FLOWERS.....BRANDEN ALBERT....JAMAL CHARLES....BRANDON CARR....GLENN DORSEY....DWAYNE BOWE.....BASICALLY THE ENTIRE NUCLEUS OF THE CURRENT CHIEFS TEAM......KING CARL PETERSEN RUINED HERMS REPUTATION .....HE FEUDED WITH PRIEST......DUMPED THE TEAMS HOPES IN LJ......WOULDNT SPEND MONEY OR MAKE A MOVE FOR A FA QB.......AND THEN WHEN IT ALL GOT DEEP......HE BOUNCED ON HERM IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT.........IF YOU WATCHED THE CHIEFS DURING THE HERM YEARS .........BE HONEST THE CHIEFS WERE ALWAYS 2-3 PLAYS AWAY FROM WINNING.....BUT WITH KING CARL FORCING BRODIE CROYLE ON US AS A STARTING QB HOW GOOD CAN YOU BE.........

WHY DO U THINK IT TOOK SO LONG TO RELEASE HERM AS COACH????????? Was drafted by Dick Vermeil in 2005. In 2006 and 2007, Herm and Carl had 14 picks…only 2 are with the team now. Oh..three if you think Croyle makes the squad this year…

Although I think Herm got a raw deal. I think he would work better with a more veteran oriented team. Not rebuilding…IMO

Though I think most replacement coaches

would have kept Page and Pollard on the squad. Say if we hired Jim Schwartz or Steve Spagnoulo.

I don't know about that. Pollard's looking for a new team again this offseason and Page didn't make an impact last year with NE

Fact is, they were starters on one of the worst teams in the league, but on good team’s they are backups. Back up players with perceived attitude problems aren’t going to endear themselves to new coaching staffs that are starting over

They both would have still been under contract

and I doubt they would have been cut and at worst would have been backups.

Though you could be right, they played well in there rookie campaigns, but failed to impress the new regime and were built for cover two.

He did make the playoffs his first year (luckily). He did help get some of our superstars today. He however led us to 6 victories the 2 years after. Haley in only TWO years has won 14 compared to the 15 Edwards won in THREE years. Edwards was too easy on the players hence why they got fat and lazy. He was one hell of a talent evaluator though.

I agree with what you are saying

I don’t know if I would rate Edwards as an A+ for scouting but he was a lot better than people gave him credit for. I also believe that he was and still can be one hell of an assistant coach, he just doesn’t have the right demeanor to be a successful head coach. I have no problem with a position coach being buddy buddy with players because some learn better that way, but I want my head coach to be a nasty SOB that players are afraid of when they screw up, which is why i loved the Haley pick from the beginning.

Herm just did not know how to win games.

Compare him to Dick Vermeil who won games but drafted terrible players. He staffed his team by free agents and trading draft picks for players. The only drafted player was Larry Johnson and he sat the bench for 2 years and he was a Peterson pick. Dick ruined this team by only adding older vets who had proven themselves. When he left we were old, fat, and slow. Herm did his best to make the Chiefs younger. It looks like Pioli knows talent and how to win.

….Dick Vermeil wanted to draft Troy Polamalu!!! It was King Carl who told Vermeil to suck it and drafted 2.7 instead. Had King Carl listened to Vermeil the Chiefs would have already won a SB during my lifetime…he didn’t, they haven’t. However, I have hope/faith in our new leader “The Don” and by our CHIEFS WILL, we shall win one very soon.

and by the way, super gluing your CAPS LOCK key down doesn’t make your point any more valid.
Herm is a good DB Coach, I’ll give you that. His record proves him to be a horrible Head Coach. He left two different, once proud franchises in ruins when he left town and it’s about a 5 year rebuild for both to recover.
And you are correct about one thing. He did take Dick’s old players to the playoffs. That’s because he hadn’t completely installed his own horrible system and dumped all of our quality Vets for his high round projects.
You like to pick out all of the good players he got, but you fail to point out all the guys he wasted all of our time trying to develop like Grigsby, etc. Everyone in the league except for Herm knew the guy wasn’t good enough. But instead of admitting it and cutting him, Herm tried to make him a mediocre Full Back just to show people how smart he was. Well… he showed everyone how smart he was.
I hope to Christ that this post was a joke because Herm Edwards ruined the KC Chiefs.
