From the FanPosts. Interesting idea but not sure the traditionalists out there would go for this. -Joel
Everyday there are businesses, products and sports teams that are continually seeking to better position themselves. In this society that we live in, image truly is everything. You must continue to evolve and change in order to continue to position yourself as unique and different. This is not a destination, it is a journey. The evolution in my opinion for anything overtime, is to be fine tuned, updated and brought into the 21st century.
As we all know Arrowhead stadium saw a multi-million dollar expansion in 2010. The saying was "New body, same soul" which was spot on. We also have seen a dramatic change of our beloved Chiefs over the last few years with our new GM, Coach and overhaul of our roster. The team has made considerable strides. Is it time to put our 1970 Super Bowl and last playoff win in 1994 in the past. It has been almost 20 years since our last truly significant playoff run. It has been 41 years since our last Super Bowl victory! Why not give our uniform and helmet a "fresh coat of paint"?
Several teams have made this transition a tremendous success. The Patriots, Buccaneers and Broncos are a few examples. I was working for UPS in 2002 when they rolled out a new branded look and brought a 21st century look and feel to one of the world's most recognized brands. Change is always difficult and you will never satisfy everyone. There will be the ones that hold steadfast to our vintage look and legacy. There will always be those who in hindsight would say, what a great decision. I believe that it would be the case with our CHIEFS. To me, the time is perfect to roll this out. I understand Mr. Clark Hunts commitment to his Father's legacy. I understand the rich heritage and tradition that lies with the Chiefs. But I ask you to take a look into the minds eye of what could be. Let's look at a few who have done it right in my humble opinion:
This does not represent by any means the ideal result. However, it allows the imagination to consider what could be.
In summary, I am ready for a change. I believe that our complete uniforms are outdated in a big way. I hope that Mr. Clark Hunt and the organization will consider an update that will fast forward the look and brand of our team into the future. We can preserve the hertitage, legacy and tradition while making an exiting change that goes along with our new Stadium. Mr. Hunt, please make a bold decision to rebrand our uniform image and hire a marketing firm that can make this a reality.
What say you?
