Different kind of fan post

With the Lockout in effect again and potentially no football news for awhile, I had a thought. I saw everyone arguing about whether or not the chiefs should retire Gonzo's number 88 in an earlier thread and somehow it gave me an idea for this post. So here goes. . .

The question is, I want to know what is the most memorable thing you have witnessed in all your years of being a Chiefs fan? What is the one thing that you remember that happened in a game that made you go nuts? And on the contrary, what one thing do you remember that happened in a game that pissed you off the most? I think I'll start this by saying that probably one of the most memorable things I can remember that made me laugh my ass off in joy, out of sheer hilariousness (word? no?), was when we saw our ol' pal 2.7 tackle Troy Polamalu by his hair. For some reason, I thought that was pretty funny. A close second would be listening to the announcers try to describe what Dante Hall was doing when he returned that kickoff against the Broncos, the one where he broke close to 7 or 8 Broncos ankles. That was hilarious and sweet at the same time.

As for the one moment that comes to mind that instantly made me mad during a Chiefs game? I'll go ahead and say Trent Green getting knocked out of the Bengals game a few years ago. That hit just got to me and I felt like breaking something because I knew it would screw our season up. I think that was on opening day but correct me if I'm wrong, that was awhile ago.

Anyway, what about you all? What's your stories? Oh and this is only my 2nd fanpost so if I messed up, let me know

Well, for me

I was pretty pissed when I saw the kicker who shall not be named missed the 3rd FG and we lost at home in the playoffs. As for the most excited I’ve been actually happened this last year, and it would be a tie between Charles 56 yarder against SD on MNF and in the same game McCluster’s big punt return. I was pretty excited when I saw Charles make his first cut on that run and I knew it was a TD. So those would be some of my most memorable moments. Another good one for me was when Dante Hall returned the kickoff against the Colts in the 03 playoffs.

I'm too young to have any memories of my own about the kicker who shall not be named

But I have learned plenty about him. I also had a blast watched Phyllis pout in that game. Definitely a game to remember

Mad, disappointed, upset. Monday Night Meltdown

2 best memories. Montana comeback in ‘94, Monday Night. Montana to Davis. My other most memorable was my first trip to Arrowhead this past year for week 1, once again Monday Night. The energy at Arrowhead was amazing. JC’s run, Dex’s return, the goal line stand for the win. Epic

Hmmm. I guess Monday night is big for me and the Chiefs.

I was at that game.

It wasn’t quite the game I was expecting and I got there at 7:30 in the morning. The rest of the day sucked! Tailgating was well worth it though. Another good memory was the thigpen touchdown catch a couple years ago, I think against Tampa.

Ram, the Monday Night Meltdown was mine for most maddening

have to take the MNF Montana vs Elway duel as one of the coolest games ever … of course, I’ve only been a fan since the team got to KC

Mine as a Chiefs fan of 20 years

Best: The epic Monday Night battle between Joe Montana and John Elway. Back and forth 4th quarter comeback drives between the two best QBs of their era, with the Chiefs coming out on top.

Worst: I don’t care, I’m gonna say his name- Lin Elliot, Lin fucking Elliot!

PS – I know many of us are still hurt/disappointed by his departure. But put that aside, I think we all know that Tony’s #88 should be retired. There’s no way he could have known we’d rebuild that quickly. I think we are all a little shocked how quick that happened.

I remember Nick Lowery missing a FG against the Dolphins

I was pretty young but I remember it was the first, and only time, I heard my dad scream and cuss….he threw something across the room and went for a long walk.

I don’t remember the exact games but there was a string of games at Arrowhead in the 90’s where we won by a Punt return, then a kick return, and maybe a INT return in consecutive weeks.. It may have been 3 out of 4 weeks but I remember Arrowhead shaking and the place going absolutely nuts.

We can still go pick up Aubrayo Franklin and Ryan Harris, throw Lance Moore in there and I'll start throwing the "S" word around.....not that one.

Montana magic in Den on MNF

That had to have been one of the most exciting games Ive ever had the pleasure to witness. Montana and Elway dueling it out, scoring back and forth. We went up then that horse toothed bastard drove and scored on us, then Montana drove us down the field and finally hit Davis on an out route at the goal line for the game winner. I lost my voice from screaming at the tv the whole game.

The most exciting play I would have to say would be Tamerick Vanover returning a punt for the game winning TD in OT against SD on MNF at Arrowhead. We had endzone seats that game and he returned it to the endzone we were sitting in, it may be the loudest Ive ever heard Arrowhead get on that play.

My best and worst -

Best –
Montana MNF comeback @ Denver.

Worst -
Overtime playoff loss to ’fins in KC.

Best and worst?

Best – Montana to Davis TD against Denver.
         - Hasty return for TD in OT against Raiders I think..
         - Lopsided Revenge Game against Bears after loss to Packers in Super Bowl One. Willie Lanier almost killed several Bears and Butkus complained it was cruel to make Warpaint run up and down field after so many TDs.
         - Catch by Otis Taylor against Pat Fischer of Redskins when DB was tackling Taylor before ball arrived and had one arm pinned but Taylor just caught it one handed in end zone.
          - Bobby Bell return of on side kick for TD against Denver.
          - T- Formation game against Raiders when three backs ran for over 300 yards out of the T-formation..

Worst – Loss to Dolphins in Christmas overtime game. Three missed kicks by Stenarud.
            - Loss to Raiders in “Ben Davidson” game. Was so unfair it caused rule change.
            - Missed kick in Colt Play Off Game.
