Marty Schottenheimer Picks Up Ryan Sims In UFL Draft

Stay connected for news and updates

Nine years after the Kansas City Chiefs drafted DT Ryan Sims, a former Chiefs coach has picked him up again. The UFL draft is currently going on and, as you may remember, Marty Schottenheimer is running the Virginia Destroyers.

With the fourth pick in the second round of the UFL draft, Marty and the Destroyers selected....

Ryan Sims.

Yes, that Ryan Sims. The same defensive tackle out of North Carolina the Chiefs picked up with the sixth overall pick in the 2002 NFL draft. Marty was nearly four years removed from coaching the Chiefs by that time but he remembers the draft pick.

Sims was the dreaded b-word with the Chiefs. He lasted four years and never made a big impact in KC. In fact, we recently ranked him as the third biggest bust in Chiefs draft history.

Sims just can't escape those Chiefs connections.
