Jerrell Powe Checked In With Ole Miss Teammates Dexter McCluster, Kendrick Lewis

Stay connected for news and updates

The Kansas City Chiefs used a sixth round pick on DT Jerrell Powe which marked the third Ole Miss player drafted by the Chiefs in the last 12 month. GM Scott Pioli had five SEC players last year and he continued that tradition with Powe on day three this year.

It makes sense then that Powe, who visited the Chiefs, talked with the two other Ole Miss players drafted last year, WR Dexter McCluster and S Kendrick LewisVia KCChiefs.com:

"They have nothing but positive things to say about Kansas City, I've taken every chance to talk to them about it, had a chance to talk to them after I came back from my visit and I told them I loved it and they only speak highly about the football tradition there, how everybody's a family so I'm very excited to be a part of the family."

It seems that the word on the Chiefs as a great football town is getting around. The Chiefs fifth round pick, DE/LB Gabe Miller, had similar things to say about the tradition and the fan base.

It's good timing then to note that Chiefs owner Clark Hunt and team president Mark Donovan both noted last week on 810 WHB that the Chiefs were No. 1 in new season ticket sales -- by a large margin.
