How Long Will Crennel Stay?
I'm just gonna say it: I hope that Romeo Crennel is a "lifer" here in Kansas City.
When I say "lifer" I don't mean somebody who will spend the rest of their life behind bars. I mean it in a positive way: a football lifer. Someone who sticks around because they want to and not because they have to. I would love to have Romeo Crennel stay in Kansas City for a long time. Dick LeBeau (DC for the Steelers) is a great example of a lifer. He is beloved in Pittsburgh (by both fans and players) and his zone-blitz defenses are very solid. Monte Kiffin and the late Jim Johnson also come to mind when I think of football lifers: both of them had opportunities to be a head coach but continued to stay where they were at.
Is it foolish for me to think that Romeo can be a lifer in KC?

I'm not sure
Crennel stays long term but I hope he atleast stays for another 3 years or so just to our guys use to the 3-4 and know how to per-fect it!!
I LOVE MY CHIEFS OH YEAH, B.Flowers is way underrated but they will all be witnesses!!! (sorry lebron)
D Line takes quite awhile to develop
And Romeo can develop D Line as well as anyone. I’d love to have him around for the long haul, esp with Emmitt coaching our DB’s.
We’re pretty well staffed right now in that regard, and I’d love to see what these guys can do with multiple seasons and our young roster.
If there’s football, that is.
Chiefs - back in the playoffs in 2011.
2 more years before he gets another head coaching job.
Maybe NFL, maybe college. But eventually someone will give him another shot.

Marty Schottenheimer just got a job.
How old was Joe Gibbs when Washington brought him back?
There’s always going to be somebody. Heck, it wasn’t like it was that long ago that Crennel was a head coach anyways.

Marty wanted to be a head coach though.....he campaigned for the Buffalo job before Chan got it
Maybe Crennel is through with being a HC. I dunno but it’s worth considering that he likes just being in charge of the defense and not all the other things that a head coach has to do.

I don't know.
I guess my own personality would demand that I take another shot at it. But I’m very competitive and persistent like that.
It could very well be that Romeo has no desire to be a head coach. I’m just more inclined to believe that at that level of competition he wants to prove something (even if it’s just to himself).

I would agree in a way because I would feel the same way
But when I get up there in age I might not want the responsibility of telling guys when to go to bed and what time breakfast is in the morning.
I would want to do what I love and that’s it. He has Superbowl rings maybe he just wanted to find the right fit and stay there till he wants to golf everyday :)

Na. I don't think he's going to be here until after he leaves.
lol.
1) Phil Taylor NT 2) Sam Acho DE/OLB 3) Ricky Stanzi QB 4) Jake Kirkpatrick C 5a) Owen Marecic FB/ILB 5b) Shiloh Keo SS/PR 6) Lawrence Guy DE/DT
7) Will Rackley OT. My mock is contingent upon the Chiefs signing a marquee free agent wide reciever to book-end with Dwayne Bowe.

I hope he stays long enough that he and Haley feel comfortable with...
whichever coach they have groomed to replace him.

Maybe Emmitt Thomas is being groomed

*When we blitz, have the LB's do a KC Strip. Do this in remembrance of DT.
I think he might be a little too old to want that job either
Maybe Anthony Pleasant

Pleasant makes more sense.
Traditionally, it’s guys who coach the front 7 that end up getting the promotion.
Yes, I know you can find a couple of names (like Herm Edwards) that were DB coaches. Those are exceptions. MOST DCs come from the LB and D-line coaching spots.

I'm pretty sure Bill Belichick started out as a DB coach
I’d say his career has turned out pretty well.

Yes, Bill Belichick counts as one of those exceptions.
Just like I stated:
Yes, I know you can find a couple of names (like Herm Edwards) that were DB coaches.
It doesn’t change the fact that the rest of my comment is just as true:
MOST DCs come from the LB and D-line coaching spots.

How are you all liking Crennel's version of the 3-4?
Seems that once we get that knee-knocking NT.. Our focus really is the SOLB position – do we look for an Ayers or Kerrigan type?
