Madden '12 Cover Vote: Jamaal Charles Moves On To Face Peyton Hillis

Photo

We've got some great news for Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles and some bad news for those who believe in the Madden Curse. Charles defeated Jacksonville Jaguars RB Maurice Jones-Drew in round two of the Madden '12 cover vote moving on to face Cleveland Browns RB Peyton Hillis.

The race between Charles and Jones-Drew was apparently very, very close. A few days ago ESPN put out an update that they were neck-and-neck and then on Monday morning they were each at 50 percent. But Charles edged him with a final tally of 51 to 49 percent.

Charles' next matchup may actually be easier as Hillis, a 10-seed, notched another upset. (Then again, Kansas probably said that about VCU.) This time it came at the hands of Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan and the final tally was, like Charles and Jones-Drew, 51 to 49 percent.

If Charles can beat Hillis, he'll move on to face the winner of Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers and New England Patriots RB Danny Woodhead.

To move Charles into the final four, head to ESPN.com and vote for him. The elite eight winners will be announced on April 11.

What better time to have the curse than when no games are played

I voted for Rivers...

I don’t care if some stranger thinks I’m childish. I’m a superstitious adult and I believe there is a jinx that comes with the Madden cover. You ever knock on wood, throw salt over your shoulder, or just believe in good and bad luck, then you have no reason to act like you’re more mature just because you don’t believe in a jinx. THAT’S RIDICULOUS. All that being said, who wouldn’t take a shot at the possibility of Rivers being more at risk than someone who isn’t on the cover. So I voted for Rivers on the cover, because if you don’t think there is an element of bad luck with the cover, you’re ignorant. Read about the history of it.

Chiefs will...

If you use private browsing

you can vote each time you open a new browser. Let’s rig this vote!!! I’ve already voted ten times.

Ok, let's settle the NFL labor dispute with Roger Goodell and DeMaurice Smith in a one on one Oklahoma drill. First one to get a concussion loses.

I show pride in my team without wanting JC on the cover...

no one on the cover since montana?

no super bowl’s since the 60’s.

I guess Im just more about what matters…winning…not putting charles on the cover of a video game.

maybe if 2k comes out with a game in the future. They also produce better games anyway

Does that really work to vote multiple times?

Because the voting was really close last round for all these people to be voting multiple times….seems like he should have beat Jones-Drew by more than 51-49 percent if there were people voting like they were for Charles….. VOTE JC….!!!

What makes you think...

MJD didn’t also have people voting multiple times for him?

Im sure there was….seems to think Charles has more fans spread out through the US than MJD….

we havent had the best of luck as is

im not even someone who believes in a curse

but quite frankly I hate to bring something on that is only a negative

I also dont want charles on the cover for ego reasons.

but hey, thats just me

and yes, Im an ADULT, to the person above who seems to believe only children want to avoid the madden cover….there is more than one reason, and quite frankly the 75 percent fail rate on madden covers has me more than happy to avoid it

The 75% fail rate

if it is really that, is by mere chance. Theres no outside “force” or “higher power” that waves a magic wand and says, “Player X has to be hurt this year because he’s on the cover of Madden.” There are a very large percentage of players that get hurt and they werent on the cover that year. Every team almost every year has one or more of their star players get hurt, and who do you think is on the cover? A star player. The percentage of Madden players getting hurt is due to the fact that out of 53 players on any given team, they might have 2-3 of them that are “Stars” so if you do the math thats 64-96 players around the league that are Madden cover quality, thats being generous, and about 25% of these stars get hurt every year. So in reality you have the same chances of getting hurt if your on the cover or if your not.

He will beat Hillis, but I just cannot see him beating Rodgers.

???

How the hell was Danny Woodhead New England’s candidate?

by craig in calgary on Apr 4, 2011 1:40 PM CDT reply actions

From what I understand...

you had to get each player’s consent to be on the cover. Apparently Brady said “no thanks.”

But that’s just what I read somewhere on a blog, might not be true.

Brady was already on the cover a few years ago

And he got hurt, you know, the madden curse?…….oh, wait, he wasnt on the cover.
So players do get hurt even if they arent on the cover of madden? Strange……..

#58 will always be king!
