SB Nation has pick by pick coverage of the second and third rounds of the 2011 NFL Draft. Check it out here

The Kansas City Chiefs have selected Florida State C Rodney Hudson with the No. 55 pick. With 38-year old Casey Wiegmann and Rudy Niswanger making up the Chiefs' possible centers, a top center like Hudson is a great pick in a position of need.

And what do you know? Rodney Hudson was named a permanent team captain for the Seminoles in 2010.

The 6'2", 300 pound senior was actually one of the top rated centers by NFL Draft Scout. He was projected to go in the second round as well.  More quick hits on Hudson, the newest Chief:

  • Hudson went No. 43 overall in the AP mock draft;
  • He was not listed on our Chiefs' draft interest table;
  • Hudson was named a team co-MVP in 2011;
Here are the Chiefs remaining draft picks this evening:

  • Round 3, Pick 6 (70) (From Cleveland)
  • Round 3, Pick 22 (86)
Alright Chiefs fans. Give us your immediate reaction. I personally love the pick. Scott Pioli knew he had to do something about the center position and why not do it through the draft, which has historically yielded ready to play center prospects.
