Rick Gosselin's Mock Draft Points To OT Gabe Carimi For Chiefs

Along with ESPN's Mel Kiper and NFL Network's Mike Mayock, Rick Gosselin of the Dallas Morning News is among the most respected reporters that contribute to the 2011 NFL mock draft madness. He's known for the research he puts in as well as the accuracy of his picks.

In his latest mock draft, he agrees with Kiper, and plenty of others (including KCChiefs.com's mock monitor), saying it will be Wisconsin OT Gabe Carimi in Kansas City.

The Chiefs want to get bigger, tougher and younger up front. KC has one of the NFL's best runners in Jamaal Charles - and Carimi has spent a career blocking in one of the best run-oriented offenses in college football.

Mayock has Baylor OL Danny Watkins headed to the Chiefs in his mock draft but each of them have the same idea with their pick -- bolster the offensive line for the best running game in football.

Drafting an offensive tackle certainly seems like a "safe" pick and both Carimi and Watkins seem to fit the Pioli mold so I believe all of these guys are on the right track.

It's interesting that, while Baylor DT Phil Taylor was the favorite for well over a month, mock drafts are now saying the Chiefs will be looking at offensive tackle.
