The first three picks are easy!
The three positions that need an immediate stater are WR, NT and C! Now I can live with Casey at center for one more season, but he might retire and I am sure all of you chief fans out there could not stomach viewing Chris Chambers (will be released) or Ron Edwards (rotational player at best) coming back to this team as starters. If we stay put at #21, this pick is going to shock alot of people because I have the strong feeling it is going to be someone that alot of people would I have never thought of (i.e. Tyson Jackson at # 3) ! The first three picks are are going to be starters because of the uncertainty with FA, so here it goes! Some people want Gabe Camrini, but lets remember this was Barry Richardson's first year starting and I think he has alot room for growth and the FA believes in him. I mean he was part of a line that lead the league in rushing, so why would we draft for depth with the first pick.
1st round - Leonard Hankerson WR Miami. I know alot of people don'e agree, but this guy is rated as a low first or early seond round pick anyway, so is #21 really that much of a reach and forget about him being available at 55, it won't happen. Big, strong, good route runner and high character. I know about the drop issues, but he has worked hard at fixing that. Outside of Dewayne Bowe, we have T. Copper, who is a special teams player, Chris Chambers, Dexter Mccluster, who is not a full time WR and Verran Tucker, who is a fourth WR. Scott Pioli is going to take the BPA that fills a need regardless of where the experts feel he should be taken.
2nd round- Kendrick Ellis NT Hampton- A huge man with quick feet that will command constant double teams. I know about the character issues, but he will be surrounded by good character veterans. This guy will be a stater from day one.
3rd round- John Moffit G/C Wisconsin- Good character guy with strong leadership qualities that came from a great program, he will be starting from day one at C.
Now I know alot people want Phil Taylor to be the pick, but I highly doubt it because this guy is inconsistent, easily blocked by one lineman at times and he really just surfaced during senior bowl week. Remember the last DL that we selected after dominating during senior bowl week, I think is name was Ryan Sims and we all remember how that turned out.

I like Moffit.
That would be a great pick.
Hankerson? No, draft him in the 2nd if he falls. If he doesn’t, there are still plenty of physical WRs that can be had later.
Ellis? No…No Way, No How. This guy is the next Weapon/Drug possession lawsuit waiting for the NFL. Imagine a 300 lbs Larry Johnson…that’s Ellis. Let Dallas deal with that headache.

just for the record
we tried to sign a guy this offseason that brought a gun through airport security not that long ago.

Well it's not like there is any way to know we TRIED to sign him
Talkin to him doesn’t mean we tossed a contract on the table
Cassel out, Andrew Luck in!

hi, Mo! 5 minutes!!!
Seriously? For bringing a gun through an airport, not even on his person?
A gun he legally owned? Is that seriously that bad? Sounds more forgetful or ignorant than malicious to me… Or is this the whole “guns are evil” thing? I’ve never heard your opinion on the subject.

Yeah for some reason people think crime would end if all the guns were gone.
When in reality i could kill you with a baseball bat just as easy or a fork and so on.

Although it sure is easier with a gun
Which is why I have one so if some jackass breaks into my home with a blade or a gun he won’t even hear me come up behind him and will never know what killed him…

Oh I know.
And we have a guy who knocked out his QB and a guy who stole beer from a bar.
And we kept Larry Johnson until he butted heads with Haley. That’s where I see Ellis headed (as well as prison). He’s going to butt heads with coaches and veterans…just like he did with Steve Spurrier. Look at it this way: Stephen Garcia has gotten opportunity after opportunity with Spurrier. So how much of a problem must Ellis have been to finally push the Ol Ball Coach over the edge?

He's the QB and maybe he has been given more slack?...
I dunno….you’d know more than I do about what’s going on in your neck of the woods.

completely agree those are the biggest needs
we will take whoever is our top NT prospect on our board…that WILL be a priority
I think C,WR…and maybe, maybe OLB/TE/DB depth, HB/QB late rounds is the plan.
mostly because it all comes back to
NT=?
C=?
WR=Bowe, we signed a guy off the street to START in a playoff game without any injuries, enough said
Team Pioli/Haley. Decade of the Chiefs.
Team Colquitt
I dont know
enough about the NT prospects to pick one, but I have to believe we will just reach for position and take POWE in round 2…something I would be STOKED with .
in the first, I think the best WR,C or OLB are the options, with a heavy weight on center if we happen to love pouncey
pouncey, powe,WR in rd 3 is a possibility…although with pioli’s mid round OL love, I can see the C in rounds 3-4 and the WR being the top pick with hankerson or smith as the pick
but quite frankly, I see Ingram as the biggest “shock” pick, LJ all over again in the sense that we get a HB when we have one in their prime, however different in that we dont get LJ the person, we get ingram, who wants to play hard
end of the day though, I still expect to walk out of the weekend with a NT, WR, C who can all challenge for PT off the bat.
Team Pioli/Haley. Decade of the Chiefs.

SDChief has a good point
RB was a position that I did not want to get into with this post, but I agree with you 100 percent. Thomas Jones is finished and while I am not sure about Mark Ingram because of the knee questions, I would certainly love to see Mike Leshoure in red and Gold if we could trade down to the bottom of the first round if it came down to a RB for Scott Pioli. People love to argue that you can get an elite back later on, but if you have the chance to take one early, then you have to go for it. This is a run team first and it makes me nervous to think that a guy that is 33 and averaged 3.7 ypc in the second half of the season will be our starting RB. This a two back league and can you imagine what Mikel Leshoure and Jamal Charles could do to opposing defenses.
I'll be glad when all the speculation is overwith.
Bottom line is that nobody knows who our first 3 or even 2 or even 1st pick will be.
Not even Scott Pioli.

All Pioli knows with certaintly at this point...
is that the first pick will be one guy on a list of 21.

24 hrs a day, 7 days a week ... like bodyguards?
I know about the character issues, but he will be surrounded by good character veterans
that’s what it’s gonna take, isn’t it? and is THAT what we REALLY need?
Hankerson … he’s really the best we could do in the first round? he’s the BPA at #21?

hi, Mo! 5 minutes!!!
We won't take WR early
With the crop of free agent WR’s there’s really no reason to take a reach at #21. The Haley bunch loves leadership at skill positions so i’d expect the Chiefs to be very active in the FA WR department. Wr is a need on the team, so you might as well take a guy thats proven himself instead of a “dem thomas, golden tate” reach.
Fitz is never coming to KC.... Sooooo move on...

I really don't think there is any chance they reach for Hankerson in the first round.
The views expressed by craig in calgary do not necessarily represent the views of all Canadians.
Hankerson flashes talent but also drops a lot of balls
no way. We need a WR that can deliver game in, game out. Ellis is a 3rd Round pick, and….I like Moffit. Very versatile player.

what? you mean he LIED to us? ;-)

hi, Mo! 5 minutes!!!
I don't like Hankerson there
not enough talent to be taken at 21
FA: Mike Simms-Walker
Draft
1: Phil Taylor
2: Brooks Reed
3:Jake Kirkpatrick
4: Austin Pettis
5:Marcus Gilbert
5:Tim Barnes
6:Nathan Enderle
Trade Down
And get more picks.
I would be ok with:
2A Brooks Reed
2B Hankerson-Haley reduced Bowe’s drops, could Hankerson be next?
3A Jarvis Jenkins-not a lot of mention on Chiefs boards, but a team captain can play 3-4 NT or DE, not a penetrator but fills gaps/takes on 2 blockers
3b Moffitt
Carpe Diem
