The Kansas City Chiefs had at least one 2011 NFL draft prospect in today -- Hampton DT Kenrick Ellis. The potential 3-4 nose tackle had a "great" visit with the Chiefs, according to this agent.
Ellis stands just under 6'5" and weighs 346 pounds. He's viewed as a potential nose tackle in a 3-4 defense and those types of players don't come around too often so he's definitely someone to keep an eye on.
Here's what Chad Reuter of NFL Draft Scout had to say about Ellis:
Another massive athlete with very good athleticism, Ellis' past may prevent him from going as high as his talent indicates--but 3-4 teams looking for an athletic 340-pounder who could play on the nose and at five-technique should jump on his talent in the mid-to-late second.
He was previously at South Carolina before leaving after violations of team policy.
The Chiefs' nose tackle situation is uncertain right now. There's Ron Edwards and potentially Shaun Smith (who played mostly at defensive end last year) but neither player currently has a contract in 2011. There's also Anthony Toribio, who didn't play much last season.
He's worked out or visited with other 3-4 teams including the New York Jets, Pittsburgh Steelers, Dallas Cowboys and New England Patriots.
Anyone else intrigued by the idea of Ellis?
