The Kansas City Chiefs search for 2011 NFL draft prospects continues and we make a pit stop in Miami for our latest draft interest -- Miami WR Leonard Hankerson. Omar Kelly of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports Hankerson tells him the first of his many scheduled workouts will be with the Chiefs.
Hankerson is a 6'1", 209-pound receiver out of Miami and SB Nation's 'Canes blog, The Seventh Floor Blog, writes Hankerson has exploded onto the scene in the last couple of years.
It is no coincidence that Hankerson's development coincided with the fact that Hankerson began working out with 3 time NFL Pro-Bowler, Mark Duper, during the offseason following his sophomore year. The results speak for themselves. After fairly unimpressive freshman and sophomore seasons, Hankerson exploded for 800 yards in his Junior season, and over 1,100 yards in his senior season
Apparently he had a problem with drops early on his career before correcting that. He runs the 40-yard dash in the 4.4 second range and is projected as a first or second round pick.
Anytime you're breaking a record held by Michael Irvin, people are probably going to notice.
