KC Chiefs Scouts Attend Memphis Pro Day

Stay connected for news and updates

The Kansas City Chiefs continue to check out pro days across the country and we can add the University of Memphis to the list. According to Memphis Commercial Appeal, scouts from the Chiefs and Jacksonville Jaguars attended the Memphis pro day on Monday.

I'd be lying if I said I knew anything about NFL draft prospects from Memphis (although I do have an aunt who used to teach there). When your team goes 1-11 and you're not known as a football powerhouse, it's tough to get noticed.

The report mentions two players -- DB Marcus Ball and LB Jamon Hughes -- that are both expected to go undrafted.

''I had a successful season, but because of our record I think I was overlooked,'' Hughes said. ''I was just hoping they'd come down here and say, 'Hey, here's a diamond in the rough.' I'm hoping they liked what they saw. If someone gives me an invite, I'm going to go and show them what I got.''

And that's what the Chiefs are apparently looking for -- a diamond in the rough.
