Three Chiefs On The Injury Report, Including Kyle Orton

Photo

The Kansas City Chiefs first injury report for New York Jets week listed three players and only one new name from last week. C Casey Wiegmann and LB Demorrio Williams are on the report, as they were last week, and now QB Kyle Orton joins the list of injured Chiefs.

Chiefs coach Todd Haley said on Wednesday that he didn't think Orton would practice but ultimately the Chiefs ended up listing him as a limited participant. His injury is on the finger of his throwing hand, which makes the recovery process for a quarterback a little more different. It's still early in the week but my initial guess is that Orton is available with only a handful of plays (like we think he was last week).

Onto the other two injured Chiefs...

Wiegmann is dealing with a finger injury, which he's had for a few weeks. Of course anytime you talk about an injury with him you have to bring up the consecutive snaps streak (10,000+). He was on the report last week but ended up playing so we shall see.

Williams has had this groin injury for multiple weeks -- usually being listed questionable, sometimes a full participant in practice and sometimes limited. On Wednesday he was listed as a full participant in practice.

If we were giving our players

Gangster names, his would be Kyle ‘the finger’ Orton.

Although I understand being a QB makes fingers important, it's still a finger, hence..

It is time for Weigmann to miss a snap.

He has not been playing well, and at this point I think it is hindering the development of Hudson.

still

You’ve gotta love a guy who plays through whatever. That’s leadership. Go Wegs!

Not really.

He is past his prime and its time to move on with the development of Hudson.

Now if he'd just be a leader

by telling Haley it’s okay to give Hudson some snaps, so they can develop him.

I'm talking about the center position.

You know, where he’s expected to play the next 10 years or so?

He'll have to die on the field

before Haley has the balls to remove him from a game.

That's why I think Palko starts now, regardless.

I don’t think it really matters whether or not Orton is ready to go, except for maybe who gets to carry Palko’s clipboard for the week.

Stanzi isn't on the injury report

So, does that mean his ankle is all better now? With Orton’s injury, even if he is active, Stanzi would have to be active as well for insurance purposes.
