Is Haley really comfortable with Palko as our starter?
.The play selection really leads me to believe he isn't. It's hard to believe, but Palko has a weaker arm that Cassel and that's pretty bad. How many times did Palko throw farther than 10 yards?Hopefully Orton can heal fast, I don't know how much longer I can stand watching Palko noodle arm throws all day to our RBs.
This should make for an interesting offseason in KC for sure. If Orton flourishes, do we resign him? Do we cut Cassel? Are we in position to draft a QB? (Barkley, RG3)? Do we trade up for them?

Agreed
Those third and long plays showed me a lot — usually a quick out, shallow cross or a pass to the flat.
I thought it was extremely evident
in the Pittsburgh game where he couldn’t even reach the receiver.
My problem with this
is that Palko underthrows receivers because of his lack of arm-strength. That hail mary pass (probably as far as Palko can throw) actually traveled 55+ yards in the air before being batted down by the leaping 6’4" Urlacher. That ball wouldve easily gone 60+ if it needed to. I know its semantics but I was hating on Palko’s arm strength myself until I saw that throw. I guess he’s got distance but not zip?
*Should read:
Is that Palko underthrows receivers, but not because of his lack of arm…etc
I would imagine he doesn't have the accuracy
And Haley may have been trying to eliminate the turnovers by limiting the yards thrown by Palko. Who knows, really. But it would seem he would have more strength than I gave him credit for, but I would strongly question the accuracy past 10 yards.

Stanzi throws the ball 50 yards with almost no effort. Why is this guy not playing?

If we are going to dink and dunk to avoid turnorvers, why not let Stanzi do it. You are getting him experience and he has the ability to make a big throw down field if needed. I don’t understand why we haven’t seen him over these last few games.

any QB can throw it 50yds on a Hail Mary
when they get that big of a wind up
it’s the routine throws that he misses… those are the ones that show his bad arm
that says very little about actual arm strength . When is the last time you saw him throw a skinny or deep post or a deep out .?

oh god, it made me sick watching Aaron Rogers light up Detroit last night. he was hitting any and every throw he wanted. If any of our current QB’s hit ONE of those throws, i’d be amazed. Pretty sad huh?

Listening to 610...
Danny Parkins just made a great point that Scott Pioli should now realize what the biggest need on this team is…. QB. He just needs to identify which QB they want and “move mountains” to get him. If we’re picking at 12-14 and Pioli wants Barkley… Just say “f*ck it”. Package your 1st this year and next year and get your f*cking guy! Done and done….
Watching our defense play so awesome over the past 3 weeks, I think shows that we are so close to breaking through. We are 1 legit QB away. All the talent is there (except for O-line pieces & Safety depth)

This is why I'd do almost everything possible to bring Manning in
other than QB, this team is ready to win NOW.
Predictions:
I'm going to stop predicting positive things
If he’s truly healed up and we could get him at a good price, I’d be up for this as well.
It’s pretty simple, we need drastic changes at QB. That HAS to be our focus this offseason.
It BETTER be...
Pioli is REALLY snapping strings on the rope he’s hanging on. At some point you have to make BIG moves and show your dedication to your mission.. Winning the Super Bowl(s).

I don’t mind packaging 2 #1s for a franchise QB
and, i don’t think Pioli is dumb, at all… so I’m sure he realizes the need is there.
it’s just a matter of how he evaluates his options.
While we all want to see a #1 pick QB that “saves the franchise”… there ARE other ways to get a wining QB…
Maybe Pioli feels Cassel and Stanzi are enough to win, and he invests more in the OL?
Maybe he has his eye on a veteran QB? (though, I doubt it, because there isn’t much out there to get excited about, sans Peyton)
I'm comfortable with making a run at signing Matt Flynn and letting him compete with Stanzi.
Cassel will make good depth as qb3.

Especially with whispers of some of these guys returning for their senior years.
I am not comfortable trading multiple firsts with all the holes that need to be filed.

you could tell after the chiefs got the lead they started playing "prevent" offense
because i’m sure they remember the 7 turnovers palko had the previous two weeks. i don’t believe haley thinks palko is good skill wise but he gives us a chance if he can manage the offense.(i.e. checks at the line, audibles, etc) and eliminate turnovers. something stanzi probably can’t do very well at this point and orton wasn’t ready for in this offense after 3 practices
The only players I hurt with my words are the ones who have an inflated opinion of their ability. I can't worry about that.

Really? A QB is supposed to be able to pass the ball too. Palko is the epitomy of a checkdown QB. He’s thrown so many picks the first 2 weeks that he’s afraid to make a mistake. We don’t even have a solid RB to take some pressure off of him.
My answer is in response to the title of the post
To which I’m saying I don’t think haley is comfortable with palko but he was even less comfortable with stanzi or orton both for different reasons. The game plan was simply play good defense and don’t make any mistakes on offense. They did that

Well he's just going to have to get comfortable with Stanzi or Orton....
Because right now Succop is our offensive scorer. We can’t rely on lucky halftime hailmarys being tipped and then intercepted by our wise receivers each week.
The defense has been great, but they’re still gonna give up fgs….and eventually TDs.
I don’t care how much of the playbook Orton knows or how much Stanzi isn’t prepared for…
Palko had 7 turnovers in 2 games. Either one would be hard pressed to duplicate that suckage.
Unprepared Orton/Stanzi+ way better arm better than prepared Alko with horrible arm. So much so, we should stop telling people they “throw like a girl” when they have wimpy arms, and instead tell them they “throw like a Palko.”
