Chiefs' Blueprint Or Just Playing Better?

Excuses, excuses, everyone has 'em.

This quote was pointed out in Arrowheadlines earlier today about the Packers-Chiefs game last week:

Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers says it's "baloney" that the Kansas City Chiefs gave future opponents a blueprint for beating the Packers.

Receiver Jordy Nelson said other teams have tried what the Chiefs did in beating the Pack last Sunday. But he said the Packers were undermanned, and they just didn't play well.

Bah, humbug!

Since we're talking about being undermanned...if the Chiefs had Eric Berry, Jamaal Charles and Tony Moeaki, what would the score be last Sunday? 33-14, Chiefs? It wouldn't have been even close if that's the excuse.

Adding to the contrary - If we had all the weapons - I think the game might have gone to GB

The only reason we were able to keep Rodgers and company at bay was due in part to the fact our record sucks, our offense was an embarrassment all season. If KC had score TDs in the first two drives instead of FGs, the score would have been 14-0. With that sort of start, I doubt Aaron would have taken it so easy. When you’re only down 0-6, Aaron knew it wouldn’t take a whole lot to come back from. Thing is – McCarthy and his crew really thought KC was gonna mail-it-in. Thus, their players were sorta complacent, and didn’t bring their A-game. Imagine if KC had all those weapons into that game, I doubt our record would have been 5-8 going in. With that said, if our record were better, and we had all of our weapons, GB would have came out firing right outta the gates. They would have treated the Chiefs like a tough opponent and game plan it like its a must win game – so what you’re saying really is a moot point. IF and IFs…we could have gotten killed if GB played us like a real team.

Todd Haley - Crennel just prove to the world that you're a f***ing Joke! Matt Cassel - Orton showed with 3 weeks of practice you can beat the world champions. #7 your legacy is...you don't have one, you're a backup all along. Should never have been a starter in the NFL.

Yeah, I doubt the Packers were even really trying to win that game against us

I mean, it would only have given them home-field advantage throughout the playoffs, so there wasn’t really any reason for them to “bring their A-game”.

What utter nonsense…

Really???
home-field advantage throughout the playoffs

I think there’s still 2 more games to play after that game. I don’t remember the season ending last week?

As far as GB was concern, they must be really BIG on getting home-field advantage throughout the playoffs because if they didn’t get it, there’s no chance of them going deep into the playoffs… I mean last season…GB were the No.1 seed, right? ..oh wait…perhaps it was IMPOSSIBLE to win in the playoffs if you’re a wild card and don’t have home-field advantage – nevermind

Todd Haley - Crennel just prove to the world that you're a f***ing Joke! Matt Cassel - Orton showed with 3 weeks of practice you can beat the world champions. #7 your legacy is...you don't have one, you're a backup all along. Should never have been a starter in the NFL.

If by "undermanned" Nelson is referring to how Jennings is out and how he proved he's not a #1 WR in his absense then he's right.

Flowers and Carr took him to the woodshed all day and he’s pissed. I wonder if being undermanned made him shove off twice and ge penalize his team too.

I wonder if he ment undermanned on the offensive line?

They were already thin on the line… then Brian Bulaga went down with an injury…. and Derek Sherrod broke his leg by the end of the game.

One thing that I hadn’t seen from Rodgers all season is him getting flustered in the pocket. Granted he has taken sacks, but this was the first time he has gotten this flustered in a game(this season), and I believe this is what effected the outcome. Whether it was because the offensive line was injured or we just plain kicked there ass(which we did in the first half before injuries) will be seen in if others can implement ‘our blueprint’.

Go Chiefs!!!!

True enough.

Manning did the same thing last year but with more class. He wasn’t going to give the Chiefs any credit but you could tell on the sideline he was struggling. Rivers did the same thing too when asked about the “worst day ever” quote. They’re pros and they’re not going to show weakness.

by DC_KCfan on Dec 23, 2011 9:04 AM CST reply actions

Not at all

If you watch enough interviews with him, you’ll see that he’s very intelligent and generally reserved. He gets annoyed when reporters or the media in general display ignorance. The “smugness” you talk about is him having a chip on his shoulder for being passed over by 23 teams in the draft and then riding the pine for 4 years. No—he’s a man on a mission. He’s not here to pander to anyone. He’s kind of like Matt Cassel…but, with talent.

I believe in the Chiefs' Way. Someday, we will set the standard for how to be a championship team!

by KC Scout on Dec 23, 2011 9:08 AM CST reply actions

I don't read that much into this

I agree, it IS baloney that we gave other teams a blue-print. Other teams know that getting to Rodgers and disrupting his receivers is the way to stop the Packers. They just haven’t been able to execute it as well as we did (and the Pack had a bit of an off day).

It’s not like RAC was the first one to think “We should get in Rodgers face and stop their passing game”

Todd Haley lost 7 of his last 15 games by 20 or more points. It was time for him to go.

by joplin chiefs fan on Dec 23, 2011 9:08 AM CST reply actions

Agreed.

Some people immediately started yelling about the Chiefs’ blueprint to beat the Packers. Bullshit. If by blueprint they mean manning up, getting in Rodgers’s grill, and just going toe to toe with the Pack, then OK… let’s see how well other teams pull that off then lol..

It reminds me of last year’s Colts game. Peyton Manning 0 TDs 1 INT, because we were fucking Peyton’s head up all day and all the announcers or anyone could talk about was how Pey Pey just looked off! Not that the Chiefs were causing if or anything, just that he was having a bad day. Same with Rivers this year.

Maybe eventually people will see that the Chiefs step up to big time QBs, but I’m not counting on it.

But let’s be honest, the Packers played flat in an extremely hard place to play. I don’t know if we would have won that game if the Packers played to their normal level. Congrats to Chiefs for taking advantage!

aww the wittle packers mad?

The packers came in with the intention of blowing us out in that game. They were outplayed against an offense/defense riddled with injuries and backups. Nelson should rephrase your answer to;" I was outplayed and outmanned by pisticelli of all people.

Jordy should of come out and mentioned all those drops his fellow WRs had to.

All of them dropped at least one and Finley dropped four.

I Appreciate the Hate

That is right media the Chiefs D is a fluke, an illusion, a mirage. Raiders and Broncos don’t pay attention they still suck so don’t worry about them.

GB had injuries.
The pressure of going undefeated.
The drops were because of sun in their eyes.
A-rod was off because he got hit once.
McCarthy didn’t adjust because he didn’t want to give away playoff game plans.
JC, Mo and EB must not be that good to be missed.

Anymore excuses i missed. I don’t care if the team don’t get the credit it deserves just keep getting disrespected and punching people in the mouth. If it makes them feel better to make excuses as players that “we didn’t get beat, here are a list of excuses to support that” i mean

its not like they get paid to play at a high level every week
