I'm new here and am a big Kyle Orton homer coming over from lurking the Denver sites for two years. His first game here was the opening game that I expected to happen this season as a Bronco. He was ready to succeed. Lots of stuff happened there (injuries, play calling and Tebow) and I think that the Chiefs got a real deal. I'm still getting up to speed with the Chiefs ,who I like as a clean, hard playing team. Joel Thorman (who I assume is the ArrowHead guy extraordinaire) posted these insightful urls: Romeo on the Game where RAC (see I'm getting the lingo) really explains his thought process. I like him, no hubris. Says what he means, means what he says. Could be a great head coach. And this near Joel's Sports Radio post : Stan Weber . I picked Stan as my first 20 minute listen and he said many insightful comments on Kyle's play. He sounded sharp. Recommended listening
Kyle can look calm and sleepy when reading defenses but there's a lot going on in his brain. He ain't pretty when concentrating but when things are in his control, he's getting all of it in. I thought that the Chiefs were the best choice to sign him because of the similarities in offense. The Patriots connection. This is an offense where the receivers have to read the same defense as the QB and when it works, it's astounding. And when it doesn't, it makes the QB look stupid. It's a slow developing offense as the QB has to see the decisions of the WRs but when it works, it looks brilliant. The Chiefs (based on a sample size of one) run this offense better than Denver or St. Louis (Josh McD) and right up there with the Pats. Add in the running of Jamaal next year and some draft picks on OL and DL, this could be a dream team!
