Bears Defense Expects The Lefty To Start For The Chiefs
Two interesting things to pass along today regarding Sunday's matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and Chicago Bears.
First, it sounds like the Bears defense has been telling the Chicago media that they're preparing for Tyler Palko to start on Sunday. Chiefs coach Todd Haley has been saying Palko is the starter but not everyone believes him. The Bears do, apparently.
Second, some members of the Bears defense either A.) legitimately don't know who Tyler Palko is or B.) are talking some trash by acting like they don't know who he is.
LB Lance Briggs: ‘‘It's Tyler, right? The left - we're getting the lefty.''
DE Israel Idonije: "Uh, ‘Plank-something. How do you pronounce his name?"
Unfortunately, this isn't the first time this year someone has forgotten who Palko is. Bucs DT Gerald McCoy called him "Calabaloo Falko" after a preseason game this year.

And exactly
who the hell is Caleb Hanie? Oh, silly silly Bears. We’ve got a name that you might remember…Mr. Kyle Orton. These jokes may come back to haunt you!
I believe in the Chiefs' Way. Someday, we will set the standard for how to be a championship team!
I hope Palko
either does extremely well or throws a pick on the first possession so Orton gets in there. I have much more confidence with him at the helm. Not that I expect to win either way. I just think we’ll look more like we belong on a professional football field with Orton.

The way Haley keeps Palko in there,
Palko may have to pull out a miracle, and throw three INT’s on the first possesion with a fumble.
I don't have a catchy, catch phrase.
If that is the case...
I hope Pioli fires Haley at halftime!
Go Chiefs!!!!
If we're down 21-0 at any point it'll be because our D couldn't stop Forte from running.

Hmm...
Not if Palko gives the Bears the ball routinely in the redzone.
7 FG's then?
Not like Hanie is going to light it up in the red zone.

yeah thats right.
Just like novocaine. give it time; always works..
The greater the fall, the grander the ascention..
Interesting too
It doesn’t appear to be something tracked in the normal records – but I still had a helluva time trying to find out if there was a record for most consecutive plays with a turnover. Almost everything I found had a max of two – so it’s possible that Calaballoo has or shares a record with his 3x consecutive turnovers in last week’s game.
I did however find an article about the ’08 Pats vs. Steelers game where the Patriots had turnovers on 5 consecutive possessions. Who was that team led by? Oh yeah… Matt Goddamn Cassel. Two INTs and two fumbles lost, awesome.
by Ochophosphate on Dec 2, 2011 9:11 AM CST up reply actions
Kyle Boller or Carson Palmer this year might be up there also...
How does two ints and two fumbles equal 5?

There was a fumble first by another player (I didn't say they were all Cassel's)
and I don’t think it was consecutive plays, it was possessions.
Matthew Slater fumbled a kickoff (lost)
Cassel gets strip-sacked (lost)
Cassel gets strip-sacked (lost)
Cassel int to Polamalu
Cassel int to Timmons
5 total – not on consecutive plays however.
by Ochophosphate on Dec 2, 2011 9:28 AM CST up reply actions
James Harrison on both strip-sacks too
and the Int to Timmons was a pick-6
u.g.l.y. it ain’t got no alibi, it’s ugly, yeah yeah, it’s ugly!

Preparing for our juggernaut Offense must be a real bitch.
No matter who’s taking the snaps.
My earliest Chiefs memories are watching guys named Dawson, Podolak, Taylor, Thomas, Bell, and Buchanan. So, yeah...I'm kind of an old fart.
Every so often, on 2nd or 3rd down
They put the punter back in shotgun and have him pooch kick – and pretend it’s one of Palko’s normal passes.
This is how the defense is preparing.

Nah, our receivers could actually get under a punt and have a chance to make a play on it.

I'd just
have the cornerbacks practice receiving passes all day to prepare for Palko.

I kinda wish
That I didn’t know Tyler Palko’s name either.

One advantage of Palko starting....
First off let me say that I’m really excited to see Orton on the field. I have a feeling most of the Palko is starting is smokescreen by Haley and it appears to be working.
I saw someone post how it would be silly not to start Orton because he knows the Bears defense so well. Problem is the Bears defense also know Orton very well. So it comes down to the question is the Bears defense a better defense than Orton is a quarterback?
Arrowhead pride addict
There's another angle not thought of
maybe the bears defense does know kyle better than we think, and Haley knows this.
Never argue with an Idiot...... they'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
sometimes I wonder how they would do that chalk outline, if you pushed someone into a tree chipper.
I think it's different
Orton knows the Bears’ D tendencies within the confines of the same defensive scheme (the Lovie 2). Many of the D stars are still there (Urlacher, Briggs, Tillman) from his time.
Conversely, the Bears don’t really know Orton within the confines of the Chiefs offense, and Orton’s style of quarterbacking (lots of deep balls) in Denver was a lot different than when he played for the Bears under Ron Turner. Ron makes Norv look like a genius.

Why would you need a smokescreen to prepare for the Bears?
I have a feeling most of the Palko is starting is smokescreen by Haley and it appears to be working.
No wonder this is such a yo yo team, if that’s Haley’s idea of motivating his team. “You guys suck, so I’m going to create a smokescreen in order to try and give you a chance.”
Do you intend to prepare Orton to start against Chicago? "No. I think we have a much better chance this week to compete and, like I said, Tyler’s the starter." - Todd Haley
Still trying to figure out why we took Stanzi so high in the Draft...
Questions that make you go “Hmmmmm.”

You consider a 5th rounder...
A high draft pick?

I was questioning why they would spend "any"
draft pick at the time on Stanzi. This was greeted by a loud chorus of boos from the Stanzi section. Well fast forward a few months. Here we are with a no talent bum (Palko) as the number one qb, Kyle Orton backing him up (for now) and Stanzi who is not even good enough to go into the game when Palko is sucking to high heaven. Geeeez!
"The Hammer"
I think you are playing the odds IMO
Palko was moving the ball and we were in a tight game with a chance to still win it. Granted he ended up throwing it to the other team but with out Gaither’s false start this could have been a completely different game. I don’t think it makes sense to throw a 5th round pick into the fire against the Steelers.

I forgot what I was talking about lol...
If Tyler has has moved the ball but thrown two interceptions…don’t the odd say he has to eventually complete a drive?
Arrowhead pride addict
by groundedchevy on Dec 2, 2011 9:26 AM CST up reply actions
My opinion is, if your offense is not scoring points,
it is not working. Nobody says, “man their offense sure is great at moving the ball” with any seriousness when the team puts up 25 total points in the month of November. If your offense can’t score enough points to win it doesn’t matter if they can move the ball. All that counts is “W’s” in the Win column.
"The Hammer"
I'm not arguing that at all...
I’m arguing that spending a 5th round pick on Stanzi isn’t a reason to put him in the game. I doubt he would have done much better….

by groundedchevy on Dec 2, 2011 9:32 AM CST up reply actions
Well, I was seriously dissapointed that we picked Stanzi
at first, and then I kind of came around to the opinion that he was a “good kid” and I guess I bought into the “cheer for Stanzi” mentality. Now I find myself disappointed that he is not even ready to come in to the game to suck in replacement of Palko.
"The Hammer"
I thought it was good 5th rounder...
The guy improved every year of college and ran a pro style offense. I think it was good pick, but its not like he lit it up in College. Give him 2-3 years and think he will be a good depth QB with potential to prove me wrong. I can understand you point completely tho.

Haley is gone after this season...Refusing to play Stanzi.
Haley: I’ll take my ball and go home before I will play that panzy
Stanzi: Hey! Are you calling me a panzy?
Haley: Panzy Stanzi, Panzy Stanzi…Now run tell yo Daddy(Pioli)…
Stanzi: You’re an AssClown!

Total points scored by the Bears in 2011----288.
Total points scored by the Chiefs in 2011—-153. Each time the Chiefs offense scored more than 20 points this year the Chiefs have won. Why can’t our offense give the defense some help? With Palko at the helm, we are sure to not put up enough points to win. Orton on the other hand has the skills to win with this offense, given that he has enough of a chance to learn to offense so as to be able to do some good. So much for the bullshit about defense winning games.
"The Hammer"
I think its funny...
that someone named Israel Idonije doesnt know how to pronounce his name
Three stats:
Zero offensive touchdowns in the month of November
0-4 team record.
Worst non-touchdown streak in the NFL

I was at the game...
My friend beside me why are the calls so predictable and complaining about run, run, pass, punt. I commented that they didn’t trust Palko. Right then they let Palko pass on 2nd down I believe and guess what? Intercepted….

I think in preping for the season
Haley lost the playbook and found Herms old playbook and just decided to roll with it.
Men succeed when they realize that their failures are the preparation for their victories.
As is evidenced
By the numerous 3rd and very long draw plays, and the checkdown throws that are consistently 5 yards short of the first down marker.

Yes, we have seen a reprise of the
Chinese Fire Drill R2-P2 (run, run, pass, punt) offense installed by Herm Edwards.

Don't Sleep on Hanie
At least he’s lead his team to score actual touchdowns, which Palko has yet to do!
Oh don't worry, i definitely won't sleep on Hanie
My wife would not approve.
Don’t really think I would, either.
Foxtrot Alpha November - Sierra Hotel Oscar Tango!
Man, and we used to rag on
Brodie Croyle for not winning! Now we have to get the offense into position to actually score an offensive touchdown. What a major breakthrough it will be if the Chiefs can actually score six and kick a PAT for a total of seven! In Herm Edwards view we have been playing some REAL football lately, none of this scoring 7 points in one fell swoop crap!
"The Hammer"
Maybe they'll give us a real treat
And wait a couple weeks to score a TD til they’re back at Arrowhead.

Do you think the team is ready?
To score a touchdown, I mean? Sure, I know the defense can handle it but what if the offense scores in front of 35,000 hometown fans………………there will be rioting in the streets and those 35,000 fans may rush the field to carry Orton off. “Long live , Neck Beard!”
"The Hammer"
What in the world
Does Haley see in this kid at practice that he was even next in line? What’s going on, is it friction? Is Palko Haley’s “guy” and Stanzi/Orton Pioli’s “guy” and Haley is just not giving in? Did we just get Orton for Bear/Bronco info? 2 million for 6 games in a little pricey for someone you wouldn’t have some kind of near future plan for. I mean what the fuck? I barely watched Stanzi in college and I would take him THEN than what I’ve seen outta Palko. Didn’t Baldwin hate this guy in college? TJ’s probably gonna get a ceremonial start, throw Orton for the same and just watch the first damn possesion.Bears holes are above LBs and in between S, even if the WRs open, Palkos not getting it there. They get to the QB with only 4 damn DL so you gotta be accurate and Palko is gonna get it there more than Orton? Or for that matter Stanzi?! Don’t concede! Throw everything AND the kitchen sink! This division is not over. Handle some fucking business!
Palko is Haleys boy.
In the interview they showed on Sunday Haley talked about how us west Pa guys are this and that.

Well, when Palko talks "us" he must have a turd in
his pocket because it seems as if he is talking about Tyler Palko (singular).

No. It would've been hard for Baldwin to hate Palko at PITT.
Since Baldwin was a true freshman in 2008, and Palko was at Pitt from 2002-2006.

Ok so i was pretty upset with Palko after the Steelers game...
But i have to admit that I just feel terrible for him. It sounds like he’s all in and knowing his story we know he has worked hard so it sucks that these dudes have to disrespect him like that in the press. Its pretty low class if you ask me. I played ball in college, even if you didn’t know a dude or knew him and knew he sucked you didn’t say anything to the cameras about it…maybe you told him ON the field, then in the interview after the game you said he played tough, thats football.
Give me a break, they KNOW his fucking name. Bush league shit right there if you ask me.
All that being said, I would be happy with these two scenarios: Palko starts, does what he has the last two game MINUS the turnovers and PLUS a TD pass and we’ll win. OR Palko continues the turnover machine ways and Orton gets in the game.
"A good plan violently executed now is better than a perfect plan executed next week."
Head games
It’s a lot less bush league than a lot of the midweek chatter that goes on. And if he wants people to take notice, he should try not throwing a slider directly to a defender with no Chief within 10 yards.
