Romeo Crennel On SportsCenter
Kansas City Chiefs (interim) head coach Romeo Crennel appeared on ESPN's SportsCenter tonight talking about the big victory over the previously unbeaten Green Bay Packers. It's nice to have the Chiefs back in the media spotlight (even if that doesn't last long).
Here are quotes from Crennel talking to Mike and Mike on SportsCenter tonight:
What was the biggest factor in stopping Aaron Rodgers and the Packers offense: "I think the single biggest factor was keeping him on the sideline. Our offense controlled the time of possession. When Aaron is not on the field, he can't throw those passes and put those points on the board so that was huge for us. Our guys, defensively, we kind of mixed things up a little bit to keep him off balance. Then were were able to rush him aggressively and get him off the spot some so I think those things helped us in the game."
The approach leading up to the game: "During the week...this team has some ability on this team. I approached them and challenged them about playing up to their ability. We had the best team in football coming to town and we were playing at home and the thing we wanted to do was go out and play our best and then let the chips fall where they may. We didn't know that we were going to win the game but the thing that I wanted them to do was I wanted them play well."
On the difference Kyle Orton made: "I think he made a nice difference. He was able to run the offense effectively and our offensive line did a good job of protecting him . We were able to mix it up with the run and play action and he managed it very well. A couple times he was able to go through his progression and when they had the front side covered he got to the back side and found the open receivers. A lot of guys were involved so that keeps everybody on their toes and excited about playing."
On what he's been told about the permanent head coaching job: "You know what I'm just playing them one game at a time. I was told at the end of the season, I would get an interview so we'll see what happens at the end. But we have one game that we won and now we're to win the next one. We have the Oqwkland Raiders coming to town on a short week so I'm trying to get my guys to focus on that and know we have to play as well if not better to win this next week."

Interesting to note
that Romeo says he won’t get an interview until the end of the year. That should put a rest to all the rumors that somebody has already been hired to be coach.
Why would they?
What’s the rush? He’s not going anywhere. Might as well see what other options are out there.
Does anyone else think
That Romeo has a wallet that reads ‘Bad Mother F….’?

Romeo Crennel is a good coach and a good guy, but I can’t help but feel like everytime I see a picture of him, he looks like he’s going to burst out of his face.
I agree....
Love the man as a coach, but can’t help but yell (ala Professor Klump) – “YES, I CAN!!!”
everytime I see him …. yes, I have issues!! The wifey laughs though…..

Who tied the other end of my rope? I wanna move on, I wanna have hope!
Thanks for the post! I always miss Chiefs talk on ESPN.
Romeo proved a lot to me this week. At first I was one of the delusional ones praying for Cowher and would have been disappointed with anything less. But know I’d like to see what Romeo can do. If he can at least win one of the remaining two and play competitively in the second, I say, let’s see what he can do next year at HC. It’d also be interesting to see what Zorn would do at OC.
Gone scalpin'...
Oqwkland Raiders
Did he pronounce it like that?
You think it's coincidence that I bleed red?

That's the way Shannon Sharpe pronounces it.
Well, the first part anyway.

That didn't sound anything like Sharpe.
You could understand what he was saying, unlike Shannon.

hi, Mo! 5 minutes!!!
Romeo makes sense for HC
he knows the players and the system that is in place and we would not have to go thru another change of system with a new HC I like Romeo he sounds loose and confident Haley always sounded nervous and confused. Romeo for HC
End of the season interview:
Pioli: Romeo, do you want the job?
RAC: Yes.
Pioli: Sign this.
RAC: Thanks.
