This is a post directly related to what ex GM Charlie Casserly had to say about the upcoming free agency period in the NFL this March. He stated that 25% percent of the entire veteran roster will be Free Agents this year as so many teams have over spent and drastic cuts will happen. WILL happen. This amounts to a whole bunch of players being on the market. Evidently many clubs have not been forward looking enough with their payroll.
Before Pioli gets vilified for having the most cap space because we do not have enough depth or whatever, perhaps he was aware of this and decided to sit back and strike in this upcoming situation regarding free agency. If so, or not, the truth is we have dollars to spend to fill positions, which will allow us to draft to cover other spots and for depth. We may be in the cat bird's seat so to speak. Because if you think about it some, it will be a buyer's market and we have, reportedly, the most to spend. It looks like the players may have made a mistake as the owners might have pulled an end around on them with the last contract. Dump several high priced contracts and hope to be able to sign them for much less. This offseason is looking up my friends and Gooo Chief's!!!!
