Ask a Raider Fan (Part 2)

In the wake of a perfect week for Chief fans )which I recognize it, and congratulate your accomplishment) and the worst week in a decade for the Raiders, I am comming from Silver and Black Pride to answer any kind of question on the rivarly game next week. We all pretty much know each other´s team very well, but be free to comment on this game and any kind of question you´ve got for me just tell me, I just have 2 rules.

1. NO Tebow comments (we all agree lol)

2. Respect between the 2 fanbases.

Thanks

Dude...

If the Chiefs absolutely CURB STOMP Oakland and the Bills manage to beat DEN… This season will have gone from forgettable to legendary in 2 weeks.

I can’t even imagine if KC starts rolling now with a D like we saw yesterday and decent QB play…

Tebow is awesome, and the Raiders can collectively lick my bag.

I think it's funny how we all hate the other teams in the AFC West, but we still have our most hated

I hate the Broncos, and the Chargers are a huge annoyance, but I abhor the Raiders. Save for a Chiefs win, nothing makes me happier in the world of the NFL than seeing bad things happen to the Raiders.

Hue Jack is a rookie HC, and some mistakes are due to that

But I believe he is a very good coach, he is aggressive, a rookie HC who dealt with so many injuries, Al died (he was the organization) and with the QB blow he had, he has done pretty well, of course, he could have done better without some bonehead moves he made but I will give him the benefit of doubt by being a rookie HC. DMC is out against you but Ford is very likely to return this week.

Definitely would be one of the most interesting games ever.

could be the MOST if not for how terrible each team is and how unlikely each team is to win anything in the playoffs.

Imagine how unreal it would be for that situation for it to happen and Orton takes the Chiefs all the way to the AFCC. WHAT a STORYLINE!

I asked this on our thread on S&B; but, probably more appropriate here..

What’s the status with McClain’s legal woes? And more generally, how are you feeling about the future of your linebacking corps;
In particular, the future of Rolando and Aaron Curry?

Angry Red, 'nuff said.

Okay okay- a lil cheap shot..

So real question… What is up with McClain and his dealing down in Alabama? The Leauge say anything about a suspension?

Something about Raiders week..

I dont know if its this way for Raider fans.. but everyone around KC seems to have a little more passion when we play the Raiders. This week is a playoff game for both of us.. Imagine that.. a wildcard playoff game Chiefs Vs Raiders on a Saturday in the blistering cold at Arrowhead… Tickets are on Stubhub for $2.. See ya’ll there

I may have no choice but to go if I can get tickets for that cheap. I could take my whole family (6 people) and still not pay as much for the tickets as I do for parking.

by misterbrain on Dec 20, 2011 10:18 AM CST up reply actions

What are your thoughts on Palmer so far?

Would you like to give him a shot to go through training camp and be"the guy" next year or are you looking to draft a QB?

by TheScreenName on Dec 20, 2011 10:36 AM CST reply actions

I do

I believe he can be that guy. I think we got a taste of it Sunday and against the Chargers. If he has a proper off season, more time to work with the receivers. He must learn to keep the picks down, and if he can do that, he can do great things for us. But that’s just me.

by rightnasty on Dec 20, 2011 12:15 PM CST up reply actions

Probably not

At the very highest we could be looking at a 3rd round compensation pick for Nnamdi. In any event we still don’t know what we have in Pryor either. Much like a lot of you guys wanted to see what Stanzi could do, many of us also want to see how Terrelle is coming along. But we probably won’t get a look at him til next pre-season. And really, this team needs to draft defense above all else with what picks we’ve got.

by rightnasty on Dec 20, 2011 1:24 PM CST up reply actions

I agree with a 9

Would have been a 10 if it had gotten down to the ground to show he was “Captain Morgan”-ing the ball.

Establish the run is a myth.

Complete the 3rd down pass and move the sticks. That’s where it’s at. Then you can stick with the run ENOUGH to get the play-action going.

The real test of whether or not the run is going to go anywhere is to beat the blitz with some completions. Do that, and the run game will be fine. First thing Orton did on Sunday was hit Copper for a 1st down completion with a blitzer coming free right in his grill. The protection didn’t hold up, but Orton found Copper singled-up in the direction from which the blitzer was coming. This was pre-snap recognition and a pressure throw.

What the Chiefs have now with Orton is a guy who’ll find the single-covered or wide-open receiver against the blitz, and show appropriate patience when the defense drops in coverage.

Seems to me that Oakland has established the pass rush off the blitz, early in games, and then could just send 4 against our happy-footed QBs. Orton had a fairly gentle start. Oakland’s front 4 are more dominant than Green Bay’s. Orton won’t have as many good opportunities, imo, but if all he does is use EVERY opportunity when he DOES have time, and KC should be OK.

But was he sacked because of his play, or because the line couldn't block for him?

Seemed to do pretty well last week. I’m not sure how bad the line has been for Oakland.

by misterbrain on Dec 21, 2011 8:13 AM CST up reply actions

If he doesn't get any time, Orton's still human.

We just have to hope that he’s on the right side of the tipping point on this KC offense.

And speaking of Denver

Your last game against them was pretty tight. What are expecting in the second game against them?

by rightnasty on Dec 21, 2011 1:18 PM CST reply actions

Was it?

I blocked out all Tebow related memories so I have room in my head for the new useless drivel that is constantly spewed about him.

I’m thinking that now we have some film on him, and the league has seen what the Denver offense is like with him, we have a good shot at disrupting what he does. Hopefully we still have something to play for besides Orton’s pride, though.

by misterbrain on Dec 21, 2011 2:33 PM CST up reply actions

Screw Tebow

He can blow me. As for Palmer: I’m starting him on my fantasy team so I hope Chiefs win 51-49 (Yes, that’s 7 TD’s a piece, with a Tamba Hali sack for a safety as the cherry on top), with Palmer throwing for about 650 yards.

Non-Team question

Are we just spoiled by Joel and Chris here, or does your SB Nation blog really not get updated that often? I’ve been perusing it this week looking to get into some discussions other than the one customary post, and there has only been like 3 main page posts since the Lions game.

by misterbrain on Dec 22, 2011 9:02 AM CST reply actions

Sounds about right

Our front page guys mostly do their thing the day before, the day of, and the day after a game. During the week it’s mostly fanposts by other people. Plus after 2 blowouts in a row, and a then the gut-wrenching loss to Detroit, perhaps enthusiasm is a little less on writing articles. Looking at our fanpost section for the week, there’s basically 3-4 “Hue is a bonehead” posts, 2 “Chuck Bresnahan get off my planet” posts, a few other ones trying to figure out what’s wrong with our team, and then the seemingly continually regurgitated Carson Palmer argument post. Which means spending a lot of time here:
