Chiefs Players Are Pumped Up After Beating Packers
That was one excited locker room.
The Kansas City Chiefs beat the Green Bay Packers on Sunday and it was clearly a huge victory for the team. As the players were walking out of the stadium and into the locker room they could be heard chanting "RAC-city" and one Chief said in front of reporters that they just "hit the Packers in the damn mouth." (Steve Breaston joked the "RAC-city" was the team's new rap song.)
Le'Ron McClain was smiling away as he talked to reporters. Derrick Johnson said they needed this right now. Breaston noted that this is a big win at an important time. Kyle Orton said this was one of his most memorable games since he's been in the NFL.
It's been a tough week to be a Chiefs player after Todd Haley was fired, and all the extra attention that comes along with that. But they clearly respond to Romeo Crennel very, very well. The one theme in the locker room is that the guys were excited to play for Crennel and it appeared they were playing for him. There's obviously a good relationship there if players say things like that unprompted.
So, yeah, today was a good day. We'll be back shortly with a few quotes from these guys.

I know it’s only one game, I think the question is, who can be the Coordinators for next year?

I’m not going overboard, because I’ve seen the OL fold up against better d-lines. But it definitely looked like the players were comfortable in their own skins, today.
It was REALLY good to see them get BETTER at running as the game wore on, and it was REALLY good to see Thomas Jones looking good out there.

I'm hoping Tebow and the raiders choke out
And we slip in somehow
Super Bowl win after this season would be lulz and with our D it could happen if we get in

Something to play for even if we don't make the playoffs
Great win by Crennel. We’ll see how the next two go but if he wins those how can you NOT pick him as head coach? Clearly the players were really happy to see him get that win. Also if Orten continues to do well maybe Cassel will be traded away for next year. Orten clearly is the better passes. Just a question as to leadership and can he elevate or carry the team when its not doing well.
Not just a better passer
but seemed so much more comfortable in the pocket….we used screens, the TE, and play action a lot more. McClain and Pope were actually used. Orton has always been very good using his backs and TEs….really opened it up for our WRs.
Yea hope it's a sign of things to come
The season just got interesting again
And His Ability To Spread It Around
He’s a very solid NFL QB…knows how to run an offense. I thought he was underrated in Denver, especially after they got rid of Marshall.
Love the win, but Orton is always gonna be Orton

Orton did a great job, play calling in the Red Zone concerns me.
I still say we don’t have a good running game. We do good when we catch the D off guard.
I think most of the time if were 4th and short yardage, they will stop us if we run the ball.
I think that will get better as they get more comfortable with Orton and as he gets more comfortable with the offense
Insert witty yet thought provoking phrase here.
And The Problems In The Red Zone Weren't Orton
He was putting it in the receivers’ hands…they just weren’t catching it.
I'd like to see more fades and jump balls to our big jumpers at WR
Than back shoulder throws. Although I agree, he put it in good spots for most of them.

We have the tie breaker over them if we win out.
So they only need to lose once for us not to have to worry about them.
We’re in a relatively good spot since our final two games are against the division. That means we need less help than most teams who are two back with two to go.
It’s important to keep in mind that we must win out to have a shot, and the Broncos must lose out, including today.

Why not keep Cassel as a backup? He’s better than Palko and he’s only making about 5.5 million next year.
Cassel would be a good backup but I don't think I want him for anything else
Then again, who knows what he could be without Todd Haley coaching.
Insert witty yet thought provoking phrase here.
He Was Pretty Good In 2010 With Someone Else Calling The Plays
I honestly think that Todd Haley royally screwed Cassel up whenever he ran the offense. The difference between the offense with Haley and without was just too much to ignore. They were moving the ball as effectively as you’ll see, they were getting opportunities. Haven’t seen that since mid-season 2010.

Congrats on your win!
I’m obviously disappointed in the way my team played today. Our play calling was horrible and our receivers couldn’t catch the ball. Can’t win them all. The Chiefs outplayed and out-coached us today. You deserved the win. Congrats and good luck in the offseason as your team moves forward.
One game at a time...
Thanks.
If it makes you feel better, we’ll probably be at home watching other teams in the playoffs while you guys make another Super Bowl run.

I hate St. Louis so much.
Their NBC station has shown commercials for a horse clock and beauty cream that covers up ugly legs which has lasted about 5 minutes.
It’s not enough that they torture us with terrible roads and lots of crime, they also have to have terrible commercials.

I have all the confidence in the world
KC is going to win the next two games, but we really need fitzpatrick to get his act together and beat the broncos next week… I can definitely see the raiders losing to the chargers last week.
not saying much
but a lose next week to Buff by denver a win over the raiders and we could still make the playoffa.
I just realized it also creates an AFC West Championship game.
I think. At least it would be win and in for us. I don’t know about them.

anybody know?
the scenario for the Chief to be in the playoff I know they have to win the last two games. What else has to happen?as in other teams that have to lose, win.
The Chargers need one more loss.
The Broncos need to lose to Buffalo next week. Those two in addition to winning out and we’re in.

First off
Congrats on a nice win. Before this game started as a packer fan living in KC, I said, worst case senario is that Orton plays well enough the next 3 games to win the starting job for next year. He played well, but in his previous 2 chances (Bears and Donkeys) he failed to produce week after week. Hope you move up the chain, because he is not the future. Congrats on a nice win, it was earned on the field.
calling it, Chiefs go on 3 game win streak, and get in to the playoffs..
whose w/ me?
Predictions:
Chiefs will have a top 5 pass defense next season!!!
Tamba will lead the league in sacks.
Jamal Charles will lead the league in Rushing yards and YPC (again)
BRich stopped Matthews!!!
The weak link in our OL stopped a Top 5 OLB without HOLDING!! My biggest thing was how Breaston would react without Haley. We know what kind of player he is now. Someone should get a slideshow of the 1000 holds Tamba has drawn and send them to the league. Seriously, I think the refs just don’t care because at some point there is going to be a Delay of Game because the drive is going to stall at the 1 micrometer line.

Who Won !!!
Who Won !!!
We need to win the next two games to win the AFC West, and Denver loss it next two. If we do make the playoff, then Romeo earn the chance to be our HC for the next 3 years. Now that Haley is no longer calling the plays, we have a strong chance of running the table and making it into the playoff. We need the team that played against the Packers to play the next two weeks.
ONE GAME AT A TIME
Money out !!!
Yo, Detroit checking in.
I’m sorry/glad you cut ties with Haley, really glad Palko’s on the bench and Orton stepped up big- Knocking off the Packers is an amazing accomplishment. You guys were due for something positive to happen. Congrats on the win. Don’t know what the remainder of this year holds (for either of us) but I hope KC has a productive off-season. Nicely done today.
