So here we are, finishing off a season without a real sense of where the team stands. Besides the overly optimistic expectations most of us had going into this season, the fact is we are a team in dire need of talent. Yes we are much better than we were before Pioli talent wise. Still we have so many needs this season and a limited amount of time to discern which players we could bring into the locker room to upgrade what was started a couple of years earlier, and being in competition with 31 other teams kept us from getting to where wanted to be.
Sure we have a seemingly high amount of cap dollars to spend, but to throw it at players without determining the consequences is a lousy idea. I for one think Pioli is doing a pretty good job, although there is some question about some players who are here or no longer here. I do not think Clark Hunt has any motivation to fire Pioli at all, and is comfortable with what he is trying to do here in KC. All this negativity seems to have snowballed into a cultish surge to disrespect what has been accomplished already.
I question all of us to ask ourselves if this team not in better shape now, even with the losing season, than it has been in a long time? So take a chill pill, or roll a fatty, or get back to the kool aid you were drinking before the season went into a tailspin and believe like we did earlier this year that the team is getting better, but still has a way to go.
We NEED talent on this team and we did "before" the season started. Nothing's changed but we lost some games. Yep it ain't the prettiest thing to watch, but there is reason to hope for a better tomorrow. So relax some, it ain't like we haven't had dashed expectations before. Keep the faith that something has been started here and give it time to bear fruit. There are many ways to find talent, but finding players who fit what your program needs is horse of a different stripe. Like QB's, they don't grow on trees.
It is possible, even likely, we get our hats handed to us this weekend. But it isn't something that would be unexpected as GB is far more talented than we are. But, GB has been building a team for some years and filled many holes why we are transitioning still in our rebuild. If the football gods are smiling on us at home in Arrowhead we may squeak a victory out, but we still would be less talented than GB. So my friends I ask you to stay passionate about our team and know that better days are ahead. Go Chief's!!
