Who's The Next Head Coach Of The Chiefs?

From the FanPosts -Joel

I think we all know the "short list" of coaches that is being perceived as the guy the Chiefs might want: Josh McDaniels, Eric Mangini, Kirk Ferentz, and Romeo Crennel.

Let me begin with my reasons why none of these will be the next coach.

McDaniels has shown since leaving New England that he can't implement an offense without Belichick, as well as showing he isn't quite a genius when it comes to making personnel decisions or drafting. Mangini has fallen off the Belichick tree, and I would imagine Pioli's radar as well with the way he handled himself since leaving New England (Spygate, for example). Ferentz has nothing to gain and his reputation to lose leaving Iowa, however I think he's the most likely of these four to come after losing his defensive coordinator to retirement. As to Crennel, I think he has no drive to be a head coach again at his age. It's been reported he didn't even initially want to be the interim head coach for the Chiefs prior to Haley's departure...

So who else might we want the Chiefs could go after?

My top four offensive-minded prospects who may consider leaving the defense to Crennel and appeasing the Scott Pioli machine. I've made obvious choices here on what teams to poach from, with men who have seen repeated success for a number or years at their positions

Joe Philbin - Green Bay Packers

He's been the Packers offensive coordinator for the last 5 years, generating very productive offenses.

Marty Mornhinweg - Philidelphia Eagles

He's been with the Eagles the last 8 years as offensive coordinator, was the head coach of the Lions dismal 2001 season (2-14).

Pete Carmichael, JR - New Orleans Saints

He's been the offensive coordinator of the Saint's the past 4 seasons (yes, they have one, and he's on the Parcells tree of coaching even... so there's that)

Brian Schottenheimer - New York Jets

Drew Brees, Philip Rivers, Chad Pennington, Brett Farve, Mark Sanchez. He's seen quarterbacks.

Gregg Williams - New Orleans Saints

While he hasn't fielded the best defenses ever, he's had success for a number of years with multiple teams.

Perry Fewell - New York Giants

3-4 as the Bills interim head coach prior to Chan Gailey's arrival there. I don't think he got a fair shake as a head coach.

Mike Pettine - New York Jets

He has seen success at LB coach with the Ravens, and fielded decent defenses with the Jets. He's young as far as experience goes on this list.
