After the blow out loss to the Jets its time for a change. We needed a change after week one to be blunt. Our offensive stradegy is predictable and underwhelming to say the least. We do not play to the strengths of our play makers and our weekly gameplans our completely pathetic. The best Matt Cassel moments are in two minute drills or when scoring is paramount. For example, his play in an overtime win against the Chargers; the tempo was good and we used everyone in their ideal state. McCluster on the short routes out of the back field, the speedy Breaston on a quick slant mixed in with play actions and runs with Battle. I felt after our draft this year and the free agent acquisitions our offense was ready for big things. Another year of experience for our O-line, maybe the inept Barry Richardson could improve. Maybe not.
Bill Muir is completely wrong for offensive coordinator. Richardson should have been replaced by Jared Gaither. Which brings me to Haley for sticking with sub-par standards. As any fan of Kansas City can attest to, there is some very poor player evaluation and coaching decisions being made in Arrowhead. Palko was replaced by Orton for one play before he was hurt and Haley admitted after the game Orton was only coming in for that one play. Really? Palko with his helmet off, unprepared on the sideline did not make that scenario look very truthful.
So in our sixth blow out loss in the season, why don't we throw in Stanzi? Not just test him out and evaluate him but to give Stanzi valuable experience to the speed of the game. We all want a franchise Quarterback for next year. It's hard to think of a losing season as an oppurtunity but that is the only thing we have right now. With nothing to lose we have an oppurtunity to test a rookie we have on the roster before we make any choices in the off-season. We can pursue a veteran, high risk high reward in Peyton Manning. We can move up in the draft and take Barkley, Luck, or RGIII with the sacrifice of future picks, current players or both. But why don't we see what we have in Stanzi before we make a huge franchise decision?
Something for Chief Nation to get their minds off the disappointing lose to the Jets:
I like Haley and I know I'm stating the obvious but if Haley doesn't fire Muir or test Stanzi, he will be fired. I have heard rumors of McDaniels-Pioli reunion, which I am in favor for. Before Haley was announced as Head coach I wanted McDaniels. After his stint in Denver I know how Kansas City fans feel about him now, but I promise he can deliver on offense. What McDaniels can potentially bring, is an offense that controls the ball and manages the clock. Not saying he will turn our offense into Green Bay or New England caliber but when your offense is on the field, our defense stays fresh. If we have a top 10-15 offense that manages ball games our defense will be top 5. As long as Crennel doesn't leave, a healthy Eric Berry returning to lead the Chiefs, with the addition of a blossoming Houston and any good draft picks/free agent acquisitions; our defense is a top 10 unit, if not top 5.
I know I am stating the obvious but Haley is coaching for his job. We need an offensive coordinator because watching football on sundays is becoming much like 2006-2009 and it's not fun. Give the fans as well as the coaches the oppurtunity to see what we have in Stanzi so we can be hopeful for next season.
