For all the talk about the trouble on defense, the OL play, etc... this should have been a close ballgame.

Look at these 4th downs in the 3rd/4th quarter:
4th and 11 at MIA 34 (Field Goal formation) D.Colquitt to MIA 39 for -5 yards (K.Dansby). FUMBLES (K.Dansby), recovered by KC-J.Asamoah at MIA 37. J.Asamoah to MIA 39 for -2 yards.
4th and 1 at MIA 3 M.Cassel pass
incomplete short right to D.Bowe.
4th and 5 at MIA 5 M.Cassel pass incomplete short left to D.Bowe [J.Taylor].
4th and 13 at MIA 36 (Shotgun) M.Cassel pass incomplete deep middle to J.Baldwin.

KC was in position to score at least 20 more points
Not to mention the play before the end of the half:

3rd and 3 at MIA 33 M.Cassel sacked at MIA 45 for -12 yards (T.Culver).

The fact is, the team just didn't make plays when they needed them... they have to take advantage of opportunities in the redzone.

This is a good football team, but not good enough to overcome a huge defecit. Keep the game close, and they can find a way to win

nope.

clearly, “everything going perfectly” didn’t happen… nor did it have to.

All I’m saying is that the team was in position to score plenty of points, but didn’t close.

Convert on those opportunities, and the game comes down to the wire… and the Chiefs can win those kinds of games.

Can't use that logic

We score more points, it changes Mia’s gameplan. They pass the ball more, more chances at turnovers or they put up even more points. Its hard to look at factors like that to predict the outcome of the game but we did leave a lot of points out on the field

Clearly what I said was not accurate, but you can't throw numbers out like this and say, they almost won.

The first one was a fake field goal that was supposed to be a pooch punt.

The fourth quarter work was against a soft defense protecting a huge lead. The DB were 15 yards off the receivers and were quite content to give up yards, just not the big scoring plays. Being able to move the ball against 20 minutes of prevent defense does not mean your offense was almost clicking.

The views expressed by craig in calgary do not necessarily represent the views of all Canadians.

We threw the ball almost every play in the red zone

And you could predict where that would get us. I don’t see how we have WR’s as big as we have and not successfully attempt one fade. Baldwin was wide open on 1 play, MC just had to toss it up. What did he do? He gunned a back shoulder throw that missed wide.

I think the problem is

We are just overachieving this year. We win some and get our hopes up but the point is that we are a team without its best RB, Safety, and TE. We lost the cornerstones to this team for the season. No team can overcome that.

Whatever we salvage out of this season is a huge plus. If Haley can get us a respectable record after losing our best players that is great….

Losses like this will happen considering our situation. We have no depth whatsoever. We HAVE to get deeper at every position.

Preperation plus talent wins ballgames…..but when you lack in either department it becomes very tough to win.

How long should you try? Until.

good points, Matty

Though, I wouldn’t agree that KC is “overacheiving”

in fact, I would say that without those 3 guys… a .500 record is about right.

With them, I expect the playoffs.

We just didn't have enough in the tank.

I was surprised to hear coach mention that about the players at the pc. The short week really killed us.

I was once fired from a job two days after I waited on Matt Cassel and his wife Lauren Killian. Totally my AP moment to remember. Unfortunately also one of my stupidest moments.
