Sunday Night Football Week 9: Ravens Vs. Steelers Open Thread

The Ravens travel to Pittsburgh to take on the Steelers this evening on Sunday Night Football (Or Football Night In America I guess). This is the second meeting of the two teams this season. The Steelers lost to the Ravens 35-7 in Week 1.

This is your open thread for the game. Who are you rooting for?

How about Eli Manning?

Patriots offense doesn’t look so scary the last three games

They can be beat by teams with a dominant pass rush.

/sigh

if you throw of the timing, you mess with their offense

brady doesn’t seem to like to be hit either. classic shot today of him laying on the field eyeing the ref for a flag after a clean hit.

In all fairness can you blame him?

He gets every call anyway… Though I hate the way the NFL is turning into the Premiere League with all the flopping.

I dunno... he averages about 9 points a game in my league...

And he had a 20 point game against Jacksonville…

Im down 50 points so my shot at coming back is very slim, But I have Vick, so with a little luck tonight I could claw my way back into it. A pick six by either Reed or Palumalu, and a TD by Bolden with Mendenhall getting no more than 5 points… And I like my chances.

that was an amazing game...ok vs kstate

i was for kstate but ive never felt so good for a loss ever, expected to lose by a lot more, we were really close to evening it up, if only klein wouldve run it we wouldve won i think cuz snyder would go for two. KSU looked really good in that game even though they lost but their D was horrible

That many chances from the 4-yard line and we dont attempt a run?

Was a great game but I didn’t feel good about it afterwards. Tired of a pat on the back for playing with the ‘big boys’. Gotta win those games.

so true...

i was really hoping for a win i thought that timeout was extremely bad time management because we just got out of bounds, we couldve ran, and if we didnt score, call a timeout quickly and pass it in and get 2 pts for a 53 to 52 win. missed opportunity

by kcchiefsallday on Nov 6, 2011 8:29 PM CST up reply actions

The bad news is that we have some serious issues with our team.

The good news is that Charles, Berry, and Moeaki will fix most of these problems.

The bad news is that they won’t fix them this year.

The good news is that we can still win the division this year, even with these flaws.

The bad news is that we may need a miracle at this point.

It could.

Right now I’m thinking about next year, since we have little shot of doing much in the playoffs even if we make it. And next year looks very promising. If Stanzi and Powe start next year and do well, we get an upgrade at RT, and we re-sign Bowe and Carr, the 2011 Chiefs will probably be the best team in the NFL.

Fair enough.

I really like the Jags, and think they get a bad rap for being bad fans. They have one of the smallest markets in the NFL, and don’t have the benefit of having an entire state like Green Bay does. Yet they still have better attendance than St. Louis, Sand Diego, and Oakland (at least last time I checked).

Plus, as a Mizzou fan, I’m hoping Gabbert does well. I also bet on the Jags to finish higher in the division than the Titans. So, yeah, go Jags!

1 playoff win in 9 years

We need an offensive minded coach…. This year he gave up the Defensive play calling duties to Mel Tucker, and now we have a top 6 Defense, albeit with lots of good free agents….But our QB coach isn’t very experienced…We need to hire a offensive minded coach and maybe a new O coordinator, and get a very talented QB coach who will work with Blaine

They have offensive weapons

and both had first team reps all preseason….Gabbert really shouldn’t be playing…He has all you want in a QB, but coming from the spread O he should have been in a baseball cap all year helping out Garrard….but then Garrard plays awful, gets hurt, and then you put in Luke Mccown (The worst QB ever) and after he shits the bed you have to put Blaine in

What’s your opinion on the Jags moving to LA? I’m hoping it’s the Rams who eventually move, but everyone seems to assume the Jags are front runners. Are the Jags really wanting to move?

by wustl_chiefs_fan on Nov 6, 2011 8:23 PM CST up reply actions

OK If I come of feisty here it's because this is a touchy subject

The Jags aren’t even in the top 4 of teams who could move to LA…..You have the Rams, Chargers, Raiders, and Vikings all ahead of the Jags….Mainly because the Jaguars have a stadium lease through 2029, and the only way to be released from that lease is if you can prove that you lost money in 3 straight years (won’t happen in the NFL) or a local judge would allow it (won’t happen either) …Also we haven’t had a blackout since 2009. Best case scenario would be that a team moves to LA, and then Weaver could sell the team

BFIB

by tiquanunderwear on Nov 6, 2011 8:30 PM CST up reply actions

That's what I thought.

I never saw the types of warning signs with the Jags that I see with the others. Not to mention that only Minnesota has you guys beat in fan support as far as the five potential movers go, and that’s the only thing the “experts” have pointed to to prove that the Jags are moving.

I just wanted to check with someone who knows more than I do.

I think they really miss Pioli.

They’re like our inverse. We have a ton of talent (with Berry, Charles, and Moeaki) but an average QB, while they have some average talent but a very good QB. I used to think the MNF game in Mass. was a sure loss, but now I’m not so sure. If Cassel plays as well as he did against San Diego and Minnesota, and our defense doesn’t suck like they did today, we can win.

I don't mind the helmet to helmet rule

In full disclosure I saw it at full speed and it appeared he hit his body jarring the ball loose and they called it to err on the side of caution. Hence, my reaction. I think the enforcement of the rule needs to be tailored though. Maybe heftier fines, post game, by the league. But the refs shouldn’t be pressured into calling that penalty without some sort of replay, to ensure accuracy.

by mdchiefsfan on Nov 6, 2011 9:04 PM CST up reply actions

the penalty wasnt for helmet to helmet

you cant launch at a defenseless player, that was the penalty.
