Chiefs Injury Report: Three Players Improve; Ryan Lilja Ruled Out

Photo

The Kansas City Chiefs released their first injury report for Pittsburgh Steelers week and it looks like a few of the guys that missed last week's game could be ready to roll on Sunday Night Football.

The Chiefs had three guys miss last week's game against the New England Patriots -- DE Glenn Dorsey, S Jon McGraw and LB Demorrio Williams. All three of those guys were full participants in practice which is a good sign entering the weekend.

The Chiefs also have a semi-surprise on the injury report -- G Ryan Lilja has already been ruled out. Lilja received a "heck of a shot", as Todd Haley called it, last week against the Patriots. He exited the game with a head injury and did not return. Haley was hopeful on Lilja's status on the Chiefs Kingdom Show on Tuesday night but apparently that hope was for naught. I imagine rookie Rodney Hudson starts in his place.

Notable names missing from the injury report include CB Brandon Flowers and CB Brandon Carr. Both guys played last week after being listed as questionable so it looks like they're good to go this week.

Do you really want a 285 lb guy play LG?

Just so you remember… Waters is 320, and Lilja has been pushed all over the place at his mere 290

Hudson at least has a little more weight at 300.

Go Chiefs!!!!

C's the leader of that line

Calling out protections, setting everyone else up, I just want that over Casey right now.

by KCinIL on Nov 24, 2011 11:32 AM CST up reply actions

Are you saying you think Hudson is more qualified at that than Wiegs?

I'm hoping so

Caseys just in there because of his milestone, don’t think hes got it anymore. Time to see what the young bucks got.

by KCinIL on Nov 24, 2011 12:23 PM CST up reply actions

For blocking, yes, I agree.

But for leadership and calling out assignments, there’s no way in a million years that Hudson is more qualified at this point. If Wiegs is playing, it’s at center and nowhere else.

It seems like we don't even talk on the line

If it’s at C and nowhere else than great. Casey, have a seat, your time is up!

by KCinIL on Nov 24, 2011 12:28 PM CST up reply actions

Not as long as Lilja is out.

But yeah, I’ve been calling for Hudson to get at least some playing time at center all season.

Dude, Casey Weigmann is not just starting to keep his streak alive.

If Haley were keeping someone starting just to help them keep a streak alive, then he should be fired.

by bamachief5558 on Nov 24, 2011 12:50 PM CST via mobile up reply actions

So why is he starting then?

Take the snap streak out of the equation he would’ve been benched awhile ago. He’s been terrible all season

by KCinIL on Nov 24, 2011 12:53 PM CST up reply actions

Because the only depth is a rookie?

I can’t believe that you actually believe what you’re saying.

by bamachief5558 on Nov 24, 2011 12:54 PM CST via mobile up reply actions

This guy

You know how hard it is to tell a vet on his way out, especially one with a historical streak going, that we’re going another way? I’m sure tough as shit. I’ll believe what I want, you can believe Casey’s been playing great and use the “he’s a rookie” excuse. Whatever argument you wanna take, the guys played terrible all season, time to let that rookie play and see what we got.

by KCinIL on Nov 24, 2011 12:59 PM CST up reply actions

If you believe that Weigmann is starting to beef up his streak

then you must also believe that Todd Haley is a complete moron.

Please get real.

by bamachief5558 on Nov 24, 2011 1:59 PM CST via mobile up reply actions

I mean you have to be joking.

They cut Waters, but Weigmann keeps playing because it’s just too darn hard to break the news to him that he’s old?

This isn’t your fantasy, this is a real life business where people are trying to win and keep their jobs. Pull your head out.

by bamachief5558 on Nov 24, 2011 2:02 PM CST via mobile up reply actions

My head outta my ass?

Ok douchebag. You think what you want, I’ll think what I want. It’s called opinions. Except you think yours are facts, which you should probably pull your head outta your ass on that.

by KCinIL on Nov 24, 2011 2:06 PM CST up reply actions

Oh we're name calling now?

You’re one of the most stubbornly opinionated people on here. You consistently state your opinions like facts, and get angry when folks disagree.

This “opinion” in particular is pure conspiracy theory! So how about you cool it, big guy. If you’re gonna get thus worked up may e you should take a break.

by bamachief5558 on Nov 24, 2011 2:19 PM CST via mobile up reply actions

How so?

You clearly started the shit off by jabbing my opinions. When have I ever ripped someone for disagreeing unless they kicked the bullshit off first? Please show me where I state my opinions as fact. I almost ALWAYS say agree to disagree and have ALWAYS admitted being wrong(recently the Cassel debates)…so where are these stubbornly opinionated comments at?

by KCinIL on Nov 24, 2011 2:23 PM CST up reply actions

Hey man, I was just trying to get you to sit back and think about it.

I mean, I’d you hobestly believe that Todd Haley is sacrificing the team’s success for Weigmann’s snaps streak, then you should want him fired. Plain and simple.

And no, I didn’t do any name calling whatsoever. That was your weak sauce.

by bamachief5558 on Nov 24, 2011 3:15 PM CST via mobile up reply actions

Telling me to get my head outta my ass

Got you the douchebag comment, otherwise it wouldn’t have been made. If that is the case, then yes he should be held responsible for doing that. I believe that’s going on because that is the ONLY possible way this guy is still in there. If there wasn’t a historic streak going on I honestly believe he would’ve been pulled already. That’s been my whole opinion of how this guy is still our starting C.

by KCinIL on Nov 24, 2011 3:19 PM CST up reply actions

You don't see how a veteran, pro bowl center might start over a rookie with no offseason?

OK then, I don’t know what else to say to you about it. You must not have watched the preseason when our back up O-line, including Rodney Hudson, clearly had no clue what they were doing.

And if being told to pull your head out of the sand upsets you that much, that’s not my problem either.

by bamachief5558 on Nov 24, 2011 4:25 PM CST via mobile up reply actions

Pro Bowl?

What Pro Bowl? And it’s week 10 the “no offseason” ship has sailed. He shouldn’t be playing and if you think he should then clearly we’ve been watching 2 different seasons. Agree to disagree

by KCinIL on Nov 24, 2011 8:46 PM CST up reply actions

I mean he made a Pro Bowl when he was a Bronco

thought he’d made one with the Chiefs as well but either way…

And I’m not even going to agree to disagree because I think your conspiracy theory is bat shit crazy.

by bamachief5558 on Nov 24, 2011 10:04 PM CST up reply actions

That may not be why he's starting.

But there’s very little doubt in my mind that’s why he’s playing every single snap.

Idk about thst

but it is clearly not why he is starting.

by bamachief5558 on Nov 24, 2011 2:03 PM CST via mobile up reply actions

OTOH.

If Hudson was allowed to see some snaps, he may just win the starting job. But he’ll never get that opportunity, apparently, as long as the streak is active. And sadly, he’ll have zero experience next season when he presumably takes over.

In order to keep that snap streak he's gotta start

Don’t see any reason why he’s still in there at this point

by KCinIL on Nov 24, 2011 2:07 PM CST up reply actions

The streak isn't about starting.

It’s about playing every single snap. That’s what I have a problem with. It means Hudson can’t even sniff the field, even in blowouts (and there have been many), at least at the center position.

Yeah.

My point was just that I have less of a problem with him starting than I do him playing every single snap.

So is that zero depth at the G/C spots now?

I’m kinda worried.

Me and Matt Cassel just - you up, dog!

sorta...

I think there’s a guy or two on the PS

And there’s a LG at LT and a LT on the bench :-)

Or Mims could play his natural position.

Which is the entire OL at once.

I feel like if the Chiefs can continue

To get after the QB and McGraw is in at SS, we should be able to play solid d for the rest of the season. Keep Gordon in the lineup along with Gregg and either Jackson or Dorsey depending on who’s more effective. Just keep Donald Washington, Reshard Langford, and Sabby Piscatelli off the field at all costs. Put in Travis Daniels or something.
