Chiefs Vs. Patriots 2011: New England Blowing Out Kansas City

Photo

This game has become the blowout we expected it to be. The New England Patriots lead the Kansas City Chiefs 27-3 as the third quarter ends. On a bright note, the Chiefs just held the Patriots to a field goal after New England had first and goal.

Here are a few notes:

The Patriots started on a roll in the second half. They made quick work of the Chiefs' defense, scoring on another Tom Brady to Rob Gronkowski touchdown pass. 17-3 in favor of New England.

Not too many plays later, Patriots KR Julian Edelman had a 72-yard punt return for a touchdown. 24-3, Patriots.

As the Chiefs were driving past mid-field, another poor Palko pass was intercepted by the Patriots. The rout is on.

So, pretty much what you expected right?

Stanzi needs PT in the last couple games to determine what we have, otherwise get Barkley, RG3 or trade up for Luck.

by WesternChief on Nov 21, 2011 10:04 PM CST up reply actions

Just start Stanzi

palko has turned out to be Matt Cassel version 2.0. throws int’s like Cassel and takes sacksthe same way

by trchief on Nov 21, 2011 10:20 PM CST up reply actions

I'm not giving up on Palko yet tho

He just needs more than one week of practice and fix his accuracy " at least a little if he could "

by chiefsman! on Nov 21, 2011 9:57 PM CST via mobile reply actions

really?

the Kid has no arm whatsoever. He is 28.
He could not cut it in the CFL or arena football league.

This crap is on Pioli.

by Redberry on Nov 21, 2011 10:10 PM CST up reply actions

His accuracy isn't the big problem...

Its his weak arm that is the problem…. granted he looks much better in the pocket than Cassel. It is pretty sad that he has a weaker arm than Cassel.

Go Chiefs!!!!

fuck Cassel & fuck Calabaloo

they’re worthless excuses for QBs. It’s time to turn the page on these scrubs….Todd Haley too. This is inexcusable.

by reedeasy on Nov 21, 2011 9:58 PM CST reply actions

No actually. I think we've played our asses off

The score doesn’t reflect the performance IMO. A few plays have greatly affected this game. I’m not saying we would be winning but I think it would be a good game at this point if a few things had not happened. Mainly a dropped pass by Breaston That resulted in and INT. A blown coverage. A punt return. And the tipped pass by Baldwin. If even half of those don’t happen I think the game is drastically different. And its apparent that Berry’s absence is hurting us on D this game cuz D Wash is playing is ass off this game, he’s just not good enough, poor guy..

by Chiefs08Matt on Nov 21, 2011 9:59 PM CST via mobile reply actions

Dropped pass?

I’m not sure I blame that one on Breaston. Pass looked like it was thrown behind Breaston, I put that on Palko.

I just don’t know if I can handle watching another game with Palko under center…

by GoldenGopher2012 on Nov 21, 2011 10:10 PM CST up reply actions

Dont watch then

He’s an NFL WR. That pass hit him in the hands. If you’re being paid 5 million dollars to catch the ball, you should catch anything that hits your hands. The second ball to Baldwin was not a good throw, I’m not defending the pass, I’m just saying it was tipped and then INT, that’s it. Not a horribly thrown ball, just a bad set of events that led to a turnover.

This game was a tale of 2 halves to me. We looked like a fired up team until right before halftime. I was actually pleased with our performance at the half and thought we outplayed them overall in the first half. Then the second half It all unravelled and Palko looked aweful. The defense looked gassed. And it was apparent that the absence of Berry hurt us defensively all game long.

Late in the 4th quarter? Game’s over, man. If you don’t want the other team to get more points, don’t stop the clock. The Pats ran mostly running plays. Sour grapes, Christ.

by Adam Fox on Nov 21, 2011 10:46 PM CST up reply actions

I understand that.

BUt we don’t get off the gas pedal mainly because our mantra is “Stop us on 3rd down. Now stop us on 4th down and get that possession back.”

Reason we do this though late in the game where the pats have a great lead, is because we are running out the clock. Hence the multiple running plays you were seeing.

I’ll take 11 players with heart on the field over 11 guys with just talent. Talent is fleeting, it goes away over time. Heart is what drives you to be better. To push yourself beyond what you think your capabilities are. To show us that when you strive, all things are possible.- SMP

this season was a wash when we lost to miami at home...

I expect us to drafta QB now. O-line isnt that bad to me. I think we just need to spend a 2ed rounderon a RT and a 4th on a C/G ….. The defensive line looked pretty good too. What we need to draft is QB and depth at saftey and CB and RB ,WR and ILB so i say we go
QB,OT, ILB, O/G, SS/FS, CB, WR, RB

the mantra of the pats offense late in the game is

“Stop us on third down. Now stop us on 4th down please.”

Essentially, this is used moreso to run out the clock, as you can see with our multiple running plays on that last drive of ours when we had the game won.

But anyways…. this is a tough loss for you guys. Hope Palko gets better, except when he plays the raiders. XD

I’ll take 11 players with heart on the field over 11 guys with just talent. Talent is fleeting, it goes away over time. Heart is what drives you to be better. To push yourself beyond what you think your capabilities are. To show us that when you strive, all things are possible.- SMP

another week...another blowout...whoopedoo

Well I`m glad I booked the day off work and I don`t feel to bad considering I`ve been up for nearly 24 hours.
Yes tonight I feel proud how this team fought for one another and showed heart in a gutsy performance on national tv….OH WAIT A F*CKIN SECOND!!! Sorry that was a dream I had the other night the reality is the Pats with 18 injuries kicked the ass out of the worst bunch of hopeless misfits wearing red and gold(or white and red even) I`ve seen in years!
Come back Herm Edwards….bring in those kids off the street…hells bring in Ryan Leaf if you want too….this team is the biggest pile of sh*t run by a front office that just hasn`t got a clue!!
On a positive note the whole nation now knows what we have to go through each week and may take pitty on us…we can`t do anything right on game day… its pathetic…please can we go back to the lock out Mr Goodell!! This team(organization) is a joke and a disgrace to the fans who flock to Arrowhead in the hope that one day money will be spend and a realistic Superbowl challenge upheld.

I find it really comical that so many people on here thought we had a good shot to win earlier in the game.

And even at halftime. Do people not watch the games? Have they not seen this happen four other times this year? And twice to end last year?

Teams do not get blown out in the NFL like this very often, let alone seven times in their last twelve games. This is a pattern, and it has systematic roots. Regardless of injuries and supposed misfortune. Those things have happened to other teams before—this has not. These types of terrible days for Chiefs fans will continue as long as the current regime is in town.

Brian Waters knew three years ago what we are all beginning to understand now. It’s sad to see such a great Chief succeeding elsewhere, and it’s even worse that he was disrespected on his way out by a front office that had much worse in store for this franchise.

That's fair. He mostly did it with Vermeil's crew anyways.

It was all down hill from there.

right.

except i predicted 45-3. i was close, and i am ashamed that i WAS.

i dont care how many injuries we have had. to be honest, if we had all of our injured players, they would have been more ready and it probably WOULD have been 45-3. this team is poorly coached, or just is not talented enough. either way, it is one of the worst in football and isnt ready to play each and every week. countless positions on this team are names only. no production. go back to the SEC. this is the NFL.

Hang in there

with Jamaal and Eric coming back we’ll be loaded with talent

Just need to get a quarterback that isn’t a joke to run it
and therein lies the problem

I should also add

We’ll be getting a right tackle as well that isn’t a revolving door

Obviously this is what everyone always says when things go bad but...

Has any team ever needed a good coach and a good QB worse than this one? You could say that about this team going back to the early 90s at this point, and no one in power seems to notice.

by Gammon on Nov 21, 2011 10:51 PM CST reply actions

WTF did you want man?

He threw for almost 300 yards in his first nfl start. I expect some mistakes. A couple weren’t his fault, one was. The guy impressed me first time out. Looked loads better than Cassel.

by bossmanham on Nov 21, 2011 10:53 PM CST up reply actions

He had some moments, but had some terrible plays too.

Won't hurt my feelings if they go to Stanzi.

The sooner management can see that our 3 QB’s are all garbage the sooner they can start scouting first round QB’s

No excuses. We only have ourselves to blame for not having the depth behind them to overcome them, but I think we are atleast a respectable team without our injuries. Pioli needs to keep building the foundation so that one day we can play with the big dogs, even if we are decimated by inuries

by Chiefs08Matt on Nov 21, 2011 10:54 PM CST via mobile reply actions

You guys know more about him than I do

but I don’t think he would throw into triple coverage in the redzone…. that goes for an INT…

I’ll take 11 players with heart on the field over 11 guys with just talent. Talent is fleeting, it goes away over time. Heart is what drives you to be better. To push yourself beyond what you think your capabilities are. To show us that when you strive, all things are possible.- SMP

Especially on 1st down.

The hate for Cassel is so great here, it’s impossible for anyone to do bad enough that people here say he’s worse.

by Tarkus on Nov 21, 2011 10:58 PM CST up reply actions

That play was horrible.

Even Cassel doesn’t throw that.

Did anyone else notice

that not having Cassel makes Thomas Jones run better? Coincidence?!?!? Maybe…

by Stone Throwers on Nov 21, 2011 11:01 PM CST reply actions

How long with Palko

Yeah he look poised in there but he doesn’t have arm strength or accuracy to make plays at QB position. Yeah i know he knows the playbook what good is that if you can’t excute it. Bottom line Put Stanzi in there he’s more talented and even if you have to dummy down playbook at least you’d get better execution because he’s a more talented Qb.

The jokes on us

We should have known that we where being fooled again . I again blame the Hunts for this mess we call a team . We can say hey we got key guys hurt but that is BS other teams are hurt and they are still winning .We have in a GM Carl 2.0 he did this off season on the cheap and when you do cheap you get cheap. We did the draft like we had the total team set when in fact we don’t have a pass rusher . Please no one tell me we got houston I WILL FUCCING SCREAM he is a LB and back in the not so long ago 4-3 days all LB where run stoppers and did some pass coverage .In that part of History DE where the pass rushers Tamba is a DE turned into a DE/LB. So draft a dam DE go back to the 4-3 get a OT and RG Fucc a QB even Lucks luck will run out behide this line fix the dam major problems . Do something with these no good back up just getting paid to make the team look like a clown fest . there is no way we dont have good back up FS or SS ,TE ,RB how do you have a draft and free agents market that was wide open and you get nothing . LAST I ALSO BLAME YOU ME THE HOLE DAM FAN BASE WE GET UP EVERY YEAR FOR THIS BS THEY RAISE ARE HOPES AND CRUSH THEM LIKE A KID WITH A ROCK IN A WRAP BOX FOR CHRISMAS. SO TO THE FANS WHAT NEXT WHAT OTHER DREAMS DO WE HAVE TURN INTO A NIGHTMARE. BEFORE WE SAY TO THE HUNTS NO WINS NO DOLLARS .MONEY MAKES THE WORLD GO ROUNG AND LACK OF IT CAN MOVE MOUNTAINS.

I've said it before

and i’ll say it again (as much as it hurts), this franchise is a minor-league laughingstock until they manage to win a single playoff game…things the Chiefs are more interested in than being a championship franchise:

the TDPack Band
KC Wolf
Chiefs n’ Chopper
Rufus Dawes articles
trying to fill the K for a home game
faking it on 4th and 1
bringing in retread QBs
club seats
pre-game flyovers
cute little card tricks before the game
tailgating
getting a home game on Thanksgiving

when this organization quits fucking around with all the ancillary bullshit designed to perpetuate Arrowhead as some horribly intimidating place to play, and start trying to do WHATEVER IT TAKES to win championships, then we will no longer be a laughingstock.

Not everything that counts can be counted, and not everything that can be counted counts."
