Chiefs Inactives: Jon McGraw Out, Jerrell Powe In
Earlier today I was listening to Ron Jaworkski on a Boston radio station and he said the Kansas City Chiefs will probably be without S Jon McGraw on Monday night.
And he's right.
McGraw is among the Chiefs inactives for tonight's Monday Night Football game against the New England Patriots. He was listed as questionable entering the game with a shoulder injury. That means S Donald Washington and S Sabby Piscitelli can expect more playing time.
Also inactive for the Chiefs is Glenn Dorsey, which was previously reported. He's got a knee injury. Amon Gordon is active and he could be a candidate to start in place of Dorsey.
Rounding out the inactives are LB Demorrio Williams, OT Steve Maneri, WR Keary Colbert, TE Anthony Becht and DE Brandon Bair.
Missing from that list is Jerrell Powe, which means he's active for the first time all year.

If a McGraw-less Chiefs made Matt Moore look like Tom Brady.
I’m very worried about who we’ll make Tom Brady look like.

Nope.. I remember that game.. He came close, but it's still
Norm Van Brockling at 554 in Sept 1951.
Brady will probably approach that tonight by the third qtr.
Yeah...
I went the cheap route and got a thirty pack for just this scenario.

I am not sure I am good with Powe filling in instead of McGraw, but I suppose he is probably a better safety than Sabby.

I bet my buddy $10 that the Chiefs will outscore Crosby
10:1
He’s got 2 points in the 1st quarter. This could be embarassing
Yep that's right. Our starting QB wears a hairband.

thats kinda what i was thinking...
i’m not AGAINST cassel… but i am excited to see what this offense looks like under another QB

I like that matchup of Arenas vs. Welker
Our CB’s are better than the WR’s. Those TE’s though, im not looking forward to those matchups
Wouldnt surprise me to see Flowers following Welker around the field.

And it would allow us to matchup Flowers vs. Hernandez and Carr vs. the Gronk
Flowers has shown an ability to deal with fast rangey WRs like Vjax. I think he’d handle Hernandez well. Meanwhile Carr being out biggest DB would be a logical matchup with the Gronk.
You can't spell Power without Powe.
Very good points there
Maybe we see some more Jalil Brown in the mix. He tweeted about putting all the work he’s been doing this week to use tonight
I could see Brown being used on Hernandez.
Our biggest DB covering him could be a good matchup.

Deion Branch and Chad Ochocinco?
They aren’t having big years, but that will change in a hurry if we are just letting Safeties hang with them.

How did Flowers do against Scheffler and Clay?
Not too well. I’d hate to see him against a top 10 TE

It would surprise me.
Flowers and Carr are going to be on their own tonight.
The Safeties and Nickle/Dime Backs are going to be doubling up on Welker and Gronkowski.

I think this is more accurate.
I will be surprised if Flowers doesn’t get considerable work on Welker. Of course who knows what Romeo has up his sleeves. He’s gotta find a way to hide (disguise) a couple safeties.

maybe its a comfort thing...
Think Horne and Palko had more reps together?
nah I mean in third string land
Palko is Finkle… who is still Einhorn.
With Gordon taking Dorseys spot this move was a must to spell Gregg.
"Give them nothing! But take from them everything!"
I'm actually more excited about Gordon getting in there than Powe.
It’ll be a good opportunity for Powe, but I think we’ll see why he’s been inactive this long.
As for Gordon, he has a chance to really make a big impact. Dorsey has played well, but doesn’t penetrate. Gordon can get penetration, but doesn’t always tie up blockers well. Dorsey gets the start because he’s the long term guy. But Gordon could show the front office that we need a penetration guy somewhere along that line.

I thought McGraw was healthy???
FUCKKKKKKKKK!!!! I’d be excited about Powe if it didn’t mean Donald Washington and Sabby pissoncrennel-i

Can you imagine how big of a game TonyMo wouldve had with the Pats crap defense being sans Chung and Spikes.
Go Leonard Pope….

The only guys the Patriots will field on D tonight that are worth a shit are Carter and Wilfork.

This is not a shot at Matt Cassel, but...
we really don’t have a QB that’s going to keep us in a shootout. TonyMo would’ve had a good game, but probably not a big one.

Figure with a backup QB making his first start, that wouldve been a nice safety blanket.

Yeah, but again, I think that equates a good game.
45-60 yards, maybe a TD.
When I think “big game”, I’m thinking 100 yards and a TD or 2.

Apparently.
Don’t know if I agree with that. Colbert has come up with some big catches for us this season.

Horne apparently will be 3rd string QB
He might be used for some trick plays, some end arounds to throw the ball 10 yards.
by Mitul V. Patel on Nov 21, 2011 6:44 PM CST up reply actions
I agree... Colbert has had some chain movers
I don’t think I’ve seen him drop as many as Baldiwn has… I could be wrong though. Anyway, like I said above this might be chemistry as well, Palko probably had more reps with him, that plus the emergency QB factor means they needed him this week.
I agree with Patel though, its a gameplan move
they are short on DBs... :)
and then let palko run it… Maybe we can pioneer the 7,8 WR sets, the refs will be confused…
NO NO, IM ELIGIBLE
12 WR set.
Maybe if we commit enough penalties on one play, the Pats will get confused/frustrated and just decline them all?

Makes me wonder.
Has Demorrio Williams ever been a healthy scratch before? Until last year, I’m pretty sure he was always a starter.

I just want to know
Why it’s holding when KC does it, but it’s perfectly okay when New England does it even more blatantly? If I was a conspiracy theorist, I’d say it was pretty suspicious that a key penalty of dubious nature seemed to get called on KC every time they started to make the Pats look pedestrian.
Outside of the TD pass to Gronk, KC has actually looked much better. Jeez, I hate zebras.
Ancora imparo.
Amen to that. How in the HECK
can Tamba be held on nearly every play and NO call.
