PrintYeah, so those of you who know me also know that I'm n a state of flux at the moment: no internet at home, sporadic access from "work" and today happens to be a day that I do have access, and so (since school is out Wed-Fri and I won't be in new digs for another week) I'd like to take this opportunity to say THANK YOU ...
Thank You for ... what? wait, the Chiefs are 4-5 going into the toughest part of their schedule! Eric Berry, Jamaal Charles, Tony Moeaki and Peyton Manning have been hurt ALL YEAR and now Cassel is out and ... are you kidding me? thank you? for THIS mess???
well, yeah ...
THANK YOU for ...
... living in a time where even a displaced Chiefs fan like myself can keep up with my favorite team from a distance of hundreds of miles, even while living in the midst of "the enemy" (Broncoland)
... the Kansas City Chiefs and the NFL: it's not perfect, neither are the Chiefs, but it's football and it rocks! (and the playoff system is STILL better than what the BCS has going on, but Geaux LSU!)
... having even a low-paying job, because there are literally millions in our country who can't find ANY work at all, so even though I'm not making much, I am making SOME and that's a whole lot better than NONE
... my daily bread, or ramen, or rice and beans, or whatever I eat: given countless millions across the globe who don't have enough to eat, or shelter from the weather, or enough clothes, or whatever it is, I'm blessed beyond compare
... being born and Raised in Kansas City and having the opportunity to know that both major sports in town were started by two of the best owners (and best human beings) ever in their respective sports: Lamar Hunt and Ewing Kaufman, two finer people have seldom blessed one community as these two men have done with Kansas City
... Brian Waters and TonyG and Eddie Kennison and Joe Delaney and Derrick Thomas and every other fabulous player and person who's ever graced our Chiefs roster, and all they've done for others along the way
... Chris and Joel and Arrowhead Pride, and the chance to be on a blog where anyone and everyone can not only speak their mind about the Chiefs, but about pretty much anything else as well (and those of you who've followed me here for a couple of years know that I do just that, and I don't plan to stop any time soon)
and finally ... THANK YOU! ... for all the friendship and cameraderie from fellow Chiefs fans and now Brothers and Friends (or Sisters, as the case may be) ... Gatsby (Pam? hoo boy, I'll get you for that!) and Steve and Kabrink and Texas Chief and 85 and The Blogger Formerly Known As Bajah ... MN and Aiken and LadyChief and WorL4Chiefs and Masons and Stag and Woody and Matt and about 50 or 500 others far too numerous to mention ... to all of you, to everyone in Chiefs Nation, wherever you may be, and even to those of you in Raiders Nation, or Donkeyland or Chargersvllle ... to anyone and everyone, a huge and heartfelt THANK YOU
may all of you have the best Thanksgiving ever (and to Craig in Calgary, Saskwatch and our other friends in Canada, the 51st State, enjoy and L'Chaim! To Life!)

Have a great belated Thanksgiving and weekend, Uppers.
I hope you still have Bella at least to spend time with as well? I don’t know where’d I’d be without my dogs, horse, donkey, goats and cows for my best friends, and having them and my little place to giving me a reason to go on. And, finally, a job for the last couple of years I kinda like, lol. I hope you like your new place? Or at least its tolerable, lol. Well … I just wish you all the best for everything in your life. Okay? From one kinda hippie-esque Cali dude to a liberal 60’s era hippie: KEEP ON BEING YOU, AND DON’T LET THIS CRUEL WORLD EVER BREAK YOU!!! LOCO!!!! :+)
P.S.: I still think the US should invade and conquer Canada, and incorporate all the provinces as extra states – so I can go there and live in the forests of the Pacific Coast B.C. without all this legal red-tape I can’t qualify for, or afford. That would be so bitchin! :+D

I too live in Tebowville were everything is perfect if you think the option can last forever and a 52% completion rate is considered awesome!
I rock my Chiefs gear daily and have a KC sticker on my SUV, because being a loyal Chiefs fan in Denver is better than having to convince yourself your team is awesome…I would feel sorry for Broncos fans if they weren’t so embarassingly stupid. People here stop in the middle of streets to perform their ‘Tebowing’ ritual and it is hard not to just run them over for being so ridiculous.

funny deal you’d appreciate … was at the gym coupla weeks ago and for aminute I wondered if it was you … HUGEASS pickup truck on the curb in front of the place in the parking lot, with Kansas Wildcat on the towbar, and a giant Chiefs FLAG on either side coming up off the mirrors
turns out the guy who manages the gym is from KC, went to K-State and is a major Chiefs fan

I also am displaced in Denver. Though I hardly ever comment and have never posted I feel i know the regulars from their posts and comments. I am not sure of your situation for the holiday but my home is open to any displaced chiefs fan enjoying the beautiful mountains. It’s too bad we have to put up with all the Bronco fans some are ok but some are hard to deal with, but I suppose the same could be said in reverse. Anyway you are welcome for Thanksgiving dinner if you have no family to share this thanksgiving with. That is what I am most thankful for family, and chiefs fans are a family of sorts.

A good friend of mine lost his job last week, so the whole “job” thing is certainly something to be thankful for.
I’m thankful that a forum like this exists. I learn something every week. I also get really ticked off at a comment or two each week. But the fact that we can still discuss (and argue) the finer(!) points about our team is something we should never take for granted.

Mehhh ... the only seafood I've ever liked when I lived in Oceanside
was shrimp or Talapia. That with fresh homemade salsa, or Gazpacho. And a pitcher of Margaritas. Muy magnifique! I miss Cali Fusion cuisine … and Cali in general. (sigh) As for Thanksgiving in SD … ehhh, from my experiences, they still observed it from 88-92. Actually, the vast majority of people in Cali are pretty mainstream and traditional. (Shhh … don’t tell anybody! Don’t want to ruin its rep as being the land of fruits and nutzzz … like me! [wink, wink])

As for the politics, I’ll always be on the less-gov’t-is-better-gov’t side of things from you. I still believe that moral outrage is a tool of power-grabbers and the gov’t formulas for solving the problems leaves good folks with more rules to live by and less ability to use common sense. In my world view, the problem isn’t too little government, but too much. My take on history is that ‘most every time we’ve looked to gov’t to solve a problem, it treated the symptom rather than effecting a cure, and planted the seeds for more problems, later, opening the door for gov’t to screw things up a little bit more, planting the seeds for even MORE wrongheaded interference, world without end.
The less sense folks have, the more rules we need and the more rules we have, the less sense people need (Yes, NEED) to exercise. There’s no such thing as a perfect system that protects everyone from their own idiocy. At some point, you just have to let idiots harvest the fruits of their own stupidity. At some point, you have to embrace the fact that the only way to make things work is for ‘most everybody to behave sensibly, and sense isn’t something you can impose on people against their will. They either choose or don’t choose, and it’s nobody’s fault but their own if they choose poorly.

Prof is right, of course … he’s always right in his overly-simplistic way, thing he doesn’t usually account for is the insensitive and greedy side of Mankind, the “bully” in all of us that makes it hard for some to compete even on a level playing field (which we don’t have anyway)

btw, just read a FABULOUS book by Michio Kaku called The Physics of the Future
he’s the theoretical physicist who did a show on Discovery Channel called The Physics of the Impossible (about time travel, going to other universes, Star Trek style transporters, etc) … the book is about what’s likely to happen in our lives in over the course of this century, all the innovations that are in development
liberally sprinkled with a good dose of excellent quotes, a bit of humor and wrapped up with a look at what economics and society will be like at the end of the century (and how we’ve REALLY gotten here from where mankind used to be, and why)

Never have read any of his books or anything – since I’m illiterate and all. But I listen to his radio show every once in awhile, and when he’s on the Coast to Coast AM show. Like how he can kinda explain things so that even a dumb hillbilly like me can kinda contemplate dem fancy dancy notions and all. Likey him much better than Steven Hawking. Like how Tyson DeGrasse explains astronomy, astrophysics and such, as well.

Hmm? Anywho, I mostly dislike both philosophies; although there’s quite a bit of libertarian in me in regards to SOME things – if I absolutely must be labeled … which really chafes my hide and such!
