Monday Night Football 2011: Vikings Vs. Packers

Photo

The Minnesota Vikings travel a short way to Green Bay, WI, this evening to take on the undefeated Green Bay Packers. Game time is at 8:30 p.m. ET and is of course on ESPN.

SB Nation has a Vikings vs. Packers Storystream ready to roll and they will be adding highlight videos. Something tells me there will be a few highlights this evening with the Packers on the field.

Who's watching the game tonight?

GO PACK GO!

You wanna see a real NFL QB play? Watch Aaron Rodgers. Hell, watch Christian Ponder. He looks pretty damn good so far early in his career.

I can now say this with a straight face, and it will be accurate: Tim Tebow is a better QB than Matt Cassel.

VIVA MATIAS LEINART

Standing on the corner in a white Godfather hat. He drives a long black gangster Cadillac. He can steal a broads mind, man, in three or four minutes. It’s not how long you talk, brother, it’s what you put in it.

Fun fact. I have Matt Shaub as my starter in fantasy football.

His backup? Matt Cassel.

I’m now taking requests on which quarterback I jinx next. I know Tebow’s available. Any suggestions?

Man I hate him so much. I’m not sure there is a lamer QB to ever play in the NFL.
I hope some dispensable player like Palko or Demorrio punches him in the face if he does that discount doublecheck celebration he does when we play them.

Its strange.

Seems like they’re generating less pressure and giving up more yards and points but they’re also getting more turnovers and their run D is better. Passing D looks pretty bad though.

Perhaps this is as good as Cassel can possibly get...

Also the O-Line has really gone down hill, and we don’t have Jamaal to take pressure off Cassel.

Im not making excuses for Cassel, i think he has been really bad lately (also WR’s are dropping passes again), but I don’t think you can pin this year on any one guy.

That is a good point

The drops are getting bad. Watching it live, though, those throws are way behind and out or real line for our guys to make the catch. Just inaccurate, especially under pressure. I don’t think he can overcome that.

Im as big a Cassel supporter as there has been...

I still think he is good enough to manage a team to the Super bowl (ala Dilfer and the likes), but this team is nowhere good enough..

So now if you have an upgrade available, Im a firm believer you have to go with it. But this team has a lot of problems beyond the QB.

I think he's fixed a few things with Cassel.

His completion percentage etc is better but you can only teach so much and I think the problem may be that they’re trying to change some things to help Cassel progress but he’s progressed as far as he can so now all the change is causing him to regress.

Haley can only work with the talent that's there, and Cassel (as fond as I am of the guy) just doesn't have enough of it.

Now if you want examples of guys Haley has been quite successful in getting to play to their potential, look no further than Derrick Johnson and Dwayne Bowe.

I think the Berry injury has really helped Lewis.

He seems to have established himself as a leader on the backend and really stepped up his game, which may not have happened had he been in Berrys shadow. I still think he can improve but he’s lightyears ahead of where he was last year.

I'm horribly biased but I'm hoping for Antonio Allen in the midrounds.

Guy started hybrid LB/S for three years in college. He’s a ST ace, a ballhawk(had 5 consecutive games with a defensive TD) and a tackling machine. He’s a perfect replacement for McGraw.

That's just the thing...it's always come down to "he wouldn't be as bad".

This team has had very few “good” QB’s over the past couple decades. You just don’t get it done with a guy that can be “not good, but not as bad”. Something has to shift. The revolving door has to have a brake put on it and a QB step up and take the reins for at least 5-6 years, winning games for us.

Or Houston behind Hali?

Ingram could play SOLB, ST, DT/DE in sub packages. He plays the run well, has a full repetoire of pass rush moves, can defend the pass and is more then physical enough to set the edge and shed blockers.

About that yep.

But I think the guy will destroy the combine and fly up the board. He’s a physcial freak and in shorts it will get silly.

by GenericBrand on Nov 14, 2011 9:57 PM CST up reply actions

Have to switch to a 4-3.

Houston’s not stout enough to play ILB in a 3-4. And he needs some serious help in pass coverage.

Tamba's not coming off the field, though.
