Kansas City Chiefs LB Derrick Johnson was named AFC Defensive Player Of The Week by the NFL on Tuesday after the Monday Night Football victory over the San Diego Chargers.
If you've been reading any postgame commentary or watched the game yourself, you know this is clearly deserved. (Frankly, he had a strong argument for it last week but his teammate CB Brandon Flowers took it home instead.)
DJ had 16 tackles (according to the Chiefs numbers) along with a sack. He was a force up the middle against the run and made Philip Rivers pay once when he snagged an interception off a tipped pass.
This is DJ's fourth player of the week award. Well deserved for a guy who needs to be voted into the Pro Bowl this year. (Related: Vote DJ into the Pro Bowl here.)
